She hasn't eaten anything for days and she seems to be losing a lot of weight. Could this be a sign that she is dying or getting very sick?

There is a lot of family tension...depressed people.Fighting etc.
Could that be the culprit?
Can dogs be depressed?

Definitely need a trip to the vet. Is she current on her vaccs? Has she been out anywhere to be exposed to another dog that was possibly sick? Outside where she could have consumed antifreeze or some other toxic chemical? Any chance she could have eaten something that now has blocked her intestines? Any of these could be the culprit, and that's just off the top of my head....I'm sure there's more, and I'm not a vet.

I think you better take her to a vet! She's obviously ill and needs medical attention. She's been like this for a few days, so take her asap.
There are no 'signs of dying' as people on here seem to think, apart from in the last few moments. Certainly not eating and losing weight is not a sign of impending death, but it is symptmatic of many, many illness. Depending on what's wrong with her, if you don't take her to a vet then yes possibly, she may end up dead. So off you go!

I came back from my hols (my sister looked after my dogs at my house) and my dog Smudge age 14 had not been eating and I noticed that he had lost a lot of weight. He wasn't acting himself at all but I put it down to missing us. I waited a couple of days to see if he would get better as he seemed to go up & down. I knew in my heart that something was really wrong but didn't want to admit it. I went to the vets after being back a few days and the next day I had to have him put to sleep. That was 4 months ago and I cry almost every night about it. I tried to tell myself that he was just ill and it would pass, but please go to the vets. I would say that your dog's character can say a lot about how he is (my cavalier had VERY bloody diarroeah last week and I thought that she was dying but the emergency phone vet said that she would be okay as she was still bright, perky and eating...and she is fine. Smudge was a different story and although there could be an innocent reason for your dog's eating habits and weight loss (I really hope so), I urge you to check it out for your dog's sake...and yours - I feel so guilty for not seeing that Smudge was dying. I could have ended his suffering a couple of days earlier and could have treated him better etc etc - I feel terrible about everything concerning his death and am now crying again. I hope your dog will be okay, but please find out. You MUST go to the vets. Please let us know how you get on and good luck

talk to ur parents about this. if this hasnt happened before then there is no reason to put her down. if it happened all of the time putting her down is understandable. but the first time no. if being over protective is a problem then u need to try and fix it. if ur dog starts to spaz out when someone comes over punish her. give her a firm no and a swat on the behind. just enough to hurt so that she begins to understand the point. that are u fine and she cant act that way. repeat this process until there is a change in her behavior. u could also try and take her to some kind of professional obedience class, see if they have an answer.

People like you kill me. Oh my dog hasn't eaten anything in days. If you went days without eating don't you think something would be wrong with you? Wouldn't you have already went to the doctor by now? People like you don't need to even own dogs. Get off your lazy a$$ and take it to the vet.

I'm not a vet or anything, but has anything major happened that involves her lately? Maybe she could just be depressed? You should take her to the vet right away so they can start ruling things out. It could just be as simple as an infection.

She might be.....or she could just have bad teeth. When their teeth hurt it's too painful for them to chew on their food. Take her to the vet and have her checked. She could live for many more years if her health is good.

take her to your vet. it could be a rare but serious eating disorder! i know it sounds wierd for a dog to have an eating disorder but it is possible. i dont think she is dying but its possible she is sick or has eatin something she shouldn't have and its causing these side affects.

Take her to the vet and have them run some tests on her. Its possible she has something that is treatable. In any case, I'd take her in to see the vet.

I would take her to the Vet. and if I couldn't do that I would force feed her water mixed with lamb (baby food) to try and get her going again. Mix it so you can use a syringe. If you don't she is going to die.
