OK. Think of it this way. Would you hunt a rat, to feed your family? I hope not, rats and other rodents are nasty. Deer are Big Game mammals that provide good meat, to feed yourself and your family.
Why on Earth, would anyone think of a deer being a rodent?

Aha!! Another one who slept through biology class. No, deer are not rodents. You are probably confusing the term "rodent" with the term "ruminant". A ruminant is an animal that chews a cud. A deer is a ruminant but definately not a rodent.

Stampy Skunk,
Rodents are mammals as well. Mammal just means animals that give live birth to their young and nurse them. Humans are mammals.
As for the 200 pound rodents, they are called capybara. They are the largest members of the rodent family, and are native to the Amazon Basin of South America.
msg1496,
Deer are in no way related to the rodent family.

Hey Doc! You forgot to add hair to your list of Mammalian qualifications. Cant be a mammal without hair.
Though some of my friends with a proclivity for leaning to the Redneck side of things would probably disagree with me.
Though deer cannot be classified as Rodentia, they can certainly be identified along with Vermin or of the Pestilential and in dire need of culling. Just ask Alabama...
***EDIT - Charlsyeh- Javelinas are not rodents, they are in fact members of the genus TAYASSU more commonly known as the collared peccary or swine. You trying to tell me that swine does not = pig???
***EDIT AGAIN - Hey Savage, ever heard of a Nutria? People from the swamps consider them to be prime eating and they are an excellent source of protein and are in fact rodents.

Lol..
Rodents include things like rats, mice, beavers, squirrels, gophers etc.
If you thought a deer is a rodent then I absolutely think you should stay away from firearms for your own safety.
Go back and get your Grade 6 first.

What? Rodents are mice rats, squirrels and such, not deer. If you meant like a pest, yes plenty of people get sick of deer. People that live in the city, when they think deer, they think the Movie Bambi and think deer are cute and harmless.

No they arent . Rodents have upper and lower front teeth which never stop growing . They have to constantly eat to wear them down . Deer dont have upperteeth in the front of their mouth . That is one of the differences

... wow, talk about R.O.U.S. !!
No, deer aren't "rodents" or even in the same family / genus as rodents. Although your question brings up frightening thoughts of a 12-point stag rat with a 7-ft shoulder height!!!
