Neither is the word "toilet".

You have to understand the bible speaks of the sudden departure of the church - the sudden catching up of the believers to meet Christ in the air. This is what has been given the term "Rapture". It is the word that is commonly used to describe the event.

Just because you don't find a certain word in the bible does not mean that thing does not exist in reality.

God bless you.

The rapture is not a theory and it is in the bible. Jesus started it when he said, 'I go to prepare a place for you, so that where I am, you will be also. I will receive you unto myself...' which means we will meet him in the air and He will take us to the place He has prepared. It is also in the book of I Corinthians, 'for the dead in Christ shall rise and we which are alive and remain shall be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.....' If the verses below are not the rapture then what are they?

1Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

You're absolutely right; Rapture is not taught in the Bible!

The theory of the rapture was basically unknown and untaught to scholars until John Nelson Garby came along; he was the founder of the Plymouth Brethren Church. It was promoted in the 1830's like you said. See this link below: http://www.lcg.org/cgi-bin/lcg/studytopics/lcg-st.cgi?category=FalseReligion1&item=1116521711

The idea that the church would be taken away from this world in a pre-tribulation catching up or "rapture" is a fairly new invention in Christian doctrine. The Biblical fact that believers who are still alive when Christ returns will be caught up in the air and transformed is found in several places in the Scriptures.

Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

If you read Mathew 24 Jesus is very clear who he is talking to and if you do your own study you can find out that in 70 AD that this was fulfilled . I was tricked for most of my walk with the Lord, just read it ask the Holy SPIRIT TO GIVE YOU EARS TO HEAR AND EYES TO SEE when you read it the word tells us we don't need man to inturpit the word his the holy spirit will give under standing. we have been miss led Gods word is not that confusing we also need to know that the words in revelations were very common words in the old testament , like the beast of the sea, was the navel army in Italy area not some monster coming up out of the sea please read and learn for your self , I was very upset with my self when I started reading and getting understanding from God instead of man . we serve a good God . the jews had a time of judgment that Jesus let them know was coming he also let them know that it would take place before that generation would pass away Jesus (God ) was not confused of what was going to take place

Of course it's in the bible. Jesus also promises the faithful church of Philadelphia (in Revelation) that because they have "kept His word", they will be kept from (not in) the coming tribulation that will be visited upon the earth.

That is why I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, for those who keep the word of God.

The Bible does talk about the rapture and the tribulation. We are told that as Christians the tribulation will be cut short because we cannot bear it fully.

Did you do ANY kind of research before you attempted to discredit Christianity?

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1 Thess 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thess 4:18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Thess 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, [rapture]

2 Thess 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ [day of the Lord/tribulation] is at hand [present].

2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day [tribulation] shall not come [be present], except there come a falling away [departure/rapture] first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2 Thess 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

2 Thess 2:5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you this?

2 Thess 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

2 Thess 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. [the Church at the rapture]

2 Thess 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.
