sometimes i just google random crap and eventhough it doesnt have a match, its actually been used before somewhere,

is there some sort of database of movie scripts or something that can pull out seemingly original phrases to let you know theyve been used before?

As a starting point I find that Google is pretty good. Learn how to use it well and it can be your friend. Such as...

fade into the night
will give you pages which have fade, or into, or night. But
"fade into the night"
with quotes will give you pages with only that phrase

My favorite is www.bartleby.com

Look on the right side of the frame, under "Featuring:" They'll link you to all of the authoritative sources for quotations, like Columbia and Bartlett's.

There's a bunch of interesting stuff to explore through there, too. Kind of a reference-book portal.

Enjoy.
