It depends on who you ask.
Faith versus works was one of the big disputes during the reformation with various christian sects on either side of the argument (and a bunch trying to come down somewhere in the middle).
The other fun debate was whether you earn salvation (from faith and/or works) or whether it's a gift from god and, if the latter, are you predestined to be saved.

Where exactly this Jesus said that following moral code is sufficient to obtain salvation?
Christians obtain their salvation by believing in Jesus-Christ , believing that He's blood shed on the cross to wash their sins away.

Believing that Jesus died for your sins. Setting a standard to live by that is well within Jesus' teachings. Knowing that God is the punisher of all sin, and the rewarder of those that love Him and worship Him, in truth. If you think, or feel it is wrong, then it is wrong. Just because this man does something, doesn't mean you can do the same. Work out your own soul salvation with much fear before God.

Jesus didn't say to follow a moral code. He said that He fulfilled the law. He said all the law and the prophets were fulfilled in the commandments to love God and your neighbor. There is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends. That's what Jesus did. He died for us. He fulfilled the law. On the cross He said 'It's finished'. We live by love now, which helps us obey the law. Love empowers faith. Faith pleases God.

Well, fundamentalists believe that you have to accept the torture and death of Jesus as an atonement for the crime of robbing an orchard by two distant ancestors of the whole human race who lived six thousand years ago, otherwise you will be tortured for eternity along with lots of other people including foreign dudes who never got a chance to hear about Jesus and people who have different ways of interpreting the Bible from the fundamentalists. Not to mention babies who died too young to be saved.

Ok, the whole thing bothers me because a person cannot force themselves to have faith. You either believe or you don't. Or like me you believe you cannot truly know.
You at least have a choice in following a moral code.
I'm looking for the grand unification theory of religion. That is the holy grail.

We are saved by faith but after you are saved you work should show that you are Child of God. Please read the following verses so that you can understand this better.
"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"He then bought them out and asked, "Sirs what must I do to be save" They replied, "Belive in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."Acts 16:30-31
"That if you confess with yor mouth, "Jesus you are Lord," and belive in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."Romans 10:9

Jesus doesn't say follow a moral code.
All you have to do is ask Jesus into your heard and proclaim Him as your Lord and Savior, and believe He died for you on the cross.Good works alone won't get you into Heaven.

By accepting the sacrifice Christ paid on the cross with the shedding of his blood, His death. I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Jesus Christ.
