that means that actually going through an experience first hand and seeing the consequences of your action is more affective than someone just telling you about it.

Because some people don't listen to advice but if they have a scare (like a financial scare for example) then they will see the error of their ways and hopefully start doing what is right.

advie meaning advice? if so then it means you tell a kid to wear a seat belt and he doesnt.. when he gets in an accident and gets injured he will always wear his seatbelt.

this menas that if you scare the person or have them expierence something they will actually listen to u rather than u just tell them

you know how sometimes we don't care what our parents say and we just do it anyways? and then things go wrong? we learned through that bad experience (the scare) so, basically, the advice was worthless to us even though it was correct.

It means you're MORE likely to avoid the Dog that tries to bite you- than you are to avoid the dog because somebody TELLS you to. Experience is the BEST teacher! :)
