what do you talk about once you get past the basics?

i always always get stuck when i'm getting to know a guy. after a few times of talking to him i don't know what to say anymore. i'll know the basic things you find out through small talk, but i dont actually know how to build up the relationship more. i want to be this guys friend but i just dont know what to do/talk about. can you help me out? :)

ah and we're in highschool. im a senior, hes a junior.

Well...don't hang out together too much. If you do there will be nothing to talk about.

Remember to have a life separate from the guy..that gives you some stuff to talk about.
