Frontline, Frontline Plus, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate basically. These are the products that work - get them on your dog's skin, not his hair, and they will kill most fleas within a few hours, and all fleas within 24 hours. They also prevent fleas for up to a month - 2 months for Frontline Plus.

Don't waste your time by bathing in anything. Baths wash fleas off, but the dog will become reinfested from the environment almost immediately, he will not be protected. Flea collars do not work, they're a joke really - the flea has to walk over the collar to maybe die, and they're not that silly, they just stay away from the neck area.

You also need to spray your house because this is where most of the fleas are living - if you don't get a proper house treatment, you will continue to see fleas even though your dog is protected. Recommend Indorex, Acclaim, Staykil or Skoosh.

If he is really infested, go to vet and get a pill called Capstar, fleas will die off within an hour.

Then make sure you put on a topical liquid, every single month, on the skin on back of dog's neck - Frontline or Advantage are excellent, Advantix or Frontline Plus also prevent ticks.

DO NOT ever use Dawn, flea collars, spray, or even flea baths - they don't work, only remove a few adult fleas and the dog gets infested again soon.

Dawn, collars, and spray can actually hurt the animal, a lot.

Go to petco or any pet store and buy revolution and apply it to the dog according to the directions. Then you can buy a home fog at the grocery store and bomb the house and also spray the carpets. Whatever you do don't waste your money on a flea collor! They do not work.

Bathe him in Dawn dishwashing soap. Let it sit on him for a few minutes. It will kill the fleas.

It's expensive, but Advantage and Frontline ( at the vet) really works. One dose a month is all it takes.
