Sounds like a swollen lymph node.It could be from an infection in the throat,a bad tooth,cancer...You need to take the dog to a vet instead of asking us.We can only give advice, there is not one person here who can physically help your dog. And,ask yourself,if you had the same symptoms, wouldn't you go to the doctor? Sheesh!

I had some thing ensue simular to that approximately 2 years in the past, a confusing lump only recognised in my backside lip, grew to become out to be a cyst or blocked saliva gland. It went away via its self after some weeks

Abscessed tooth for heaven sakes take the poor thing to the VET! Dogs do not display signs of pain as easily as humans you are torturing the dog.

My dog not to long ago had what you described. We believe he had gotten bit by something but could figure out what. what we did was put a hot pack on it( just wet a washcloth w/ warm water) after a couple of days puss like stuff came out. Does the ball feel warm?

It sounds like an abcess or cyst that may need to be drained...get him to the vet...if it is either of those, his whole system can get infected and he can get very ill.

Not to mention how nasty they are if they open on their own...EEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest that you take your dog to the vet because the "bump" could be cancerous and it could also be rabies.
