My interpretation:
Humankind has reached a point when a choice must be made. We can either coexist and be miserable, or we can blow each other up. Hopefully, we will make the right choice.
I am not sure in what context this quote was emant to be taken, but based on the wording, I would guess it refers to war versus trying to avoid war. If I knew the intended context, that would help with my interpretation.

That the world (Mankind) has two paths, yet both are bad, one is slightly better, the world as it is today is in despair, wars, murders etc, although we have had the wisdom not to cause total extinction of the world, an example of this could be the Cold War, the world could have potentially been destroyed, but mankind managed to prevent it. What it means is that, either path Humanity takes, neither will be perfect, because, after all we are all just human

First of all i think this woody guy was high when he said this. Second it mean our world is at a time where there is so much wrong, that we will soon destroy ourselves if we don't do anything about it.

it means today, humans are always choosing what way they should go in life. we can either choose a path where we will be let down, but still alive; or we can choose the path where we put ourselves in danger or in a deathly situation. hopefully we know which one we should choose.

it's about making decisions. everyday we have to make decisions that are either good or bad for us, some have more importance than others, but we must always choose well.
