I think that you should welcome anyone in your church. God does not close the doors to anyone. The gates to Heaven are always open. Jesus saves, and as Christians, we cannot shut out anyone. Only God can judge, not us. I cannot stand hypocritical Christians who think that they're better than everyone and they're #### doesn't stink because it does like everyone else's, we are all sinners. The person who thinks they are above everyone else (like the person who goes to church every Sunday, doesn't ever listen to mainstream music, drink, smoke, or watch r rated movies, etc.) more than likely has another kind of vice, like overeating or materialism (eats big meals and is overweight, has to have that fancy house and that fancy car, etc.) which is JUST as bad as watching r-rated movies or having a cocktail. (I have seen this type of person too often in the church who totally forgets that gluttony and greed are also vices). We cannot judge or close the doors on anyone, regardless. I have never seen in the Bible where we are to shun anyone and not welcome them in the church. Even though I don't agree with homosexuality, I would never even dream of being rude or standoffish if they came to my church and wanted to feel welcome. Even if I was the only person who said hello and acknowledged this person, I would not care at all and I would make it very obvious to everyone that I was in the wrong church if this person was shunned. I would treat them EXACTLY AS I WOULD ANYONE ELSE with kindness. I don't judge people; I treat everyone with kindness as I would have them treat me. Noone is perfect or without sin; only Jesus. Racism in the church is especially bothersome to me. We are all brothers and sisters in God's eyes, and we must stand together and spread the word, not hate.

I have a close friend who's gay and frequently sits next to me at church. I'm very glad that he's there. I personally disagree with my own church's anti-gay stance, and don't hesitate to say so publicly. I'm glad that there are a number of denominations that are welcoming toward the gay community. Other Christians often disagree with me, but I don't believe that homophobia and other discriminatory behaviors are in keeping with the spirit of Christianity.

In African American churches, the ministers of Music (the choir directors) are sometimes gay. The lead singer in our youth choir is a very talented young man who loves the lord but he is clearly 'struggling' with his identity. We dont deny his gift in praise and worship, nor condemn him because we trust that he is working on his sin/salvation too and being in the house of God is the best place to do it.
He isnt going to bring his boyfriend to church though..and certainly not act openly gay in front of everyone.

How a person lives their life is their own business. If they are a decent human being and attend the church of their choice, they should be welcomed.

I'd open the door for them and help them find a seat!
God loves them every bit as much as He does you and me. Who am I to judge who they will become, or where they go?
Notice this... Jesus forgave (did not accuse her) a woman caught in fornication (it was a trap) without her even asking him to. He never forbade anyone to come to him and healed everyone no matter who they were. WWJD? or WWYD? (What Would You Do)

If a person is reasonably dressed in clean cloths and doesn't smell, acts with dignity we welcome this person with open arms. Many such people have come into the truth because they were humble and needed God in their lives.
We educate and point the way. The individual does the rest.

Yes, of course I would welcome him to the church, because the only chance this person has to be delivered from their sin is to be close to Jesus .

Of course - anybody is welcome.
However....it the person (any person) is openly flaunting sexual sin (that goes for hetero- or homo- sexual sin - we don't draw distinctions - sexual sin is sexual sin, period!) - we would sit down and have us a talk. If they continued to flaunt their lifestyle (again - this goes for hetero- and homo- sexual sin) - then they would be warned.
A third warning and I write to the Bishop and refuse to give them Holy Communion.

My minister is gay. Everybody is welcome at our church. I think it would be nice if all churches were this way.

If it's God's church, let him invite and exclude whom he will. It's not my place to say.
