You want to try out different amps.
I recommend solid state if your amp is going to clubs and getting knocked around.
What you want is an amp with a good warm, clean sound. The rest of the effects can always be added.

That depends on the sound that YOU want. Joe Bonamassa uses Silver Anniversary Marshalls and Budda amps. Walter Trout uses Mesa Boogie. Buddy Guy uses a signature amp made in Chicago that is based on a 1959 Fender Bassman. Eric Clapton uses Matchless, Marshall, and Cornford - an English "boutique" amplifier. Use what YOU like for YOU.
As to what I use, I LOVE my Blankenship Leeds 21 - a "clone" of a Marshall "Bluesbreaker" amp - the kind used by Eric Clapton when he was with John Mayall, but an updated improved version. I also LOVE a Carr Slant 6V, and a Guytron GT-100, and a Fender Blues Jr. Limited Edition from Guitar Center. What you are going to do depends on what you should get, but you should consider going to a "boutique" store to check out some great amps, read the "Harmony Central" website reviews, and try out the amps with the guitar or guitars you will be using.

If you want the blues sound, you want a tube amp, period.
The Fender Twin Reverbs have a lot of fans. A lot of people also like to use an old Bassman amp as a guitar amp. If you're looking for a combo amp that you can buy new, try the Peavey Classic 50 or a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe retubed with cooler tubes in the early preamp stages.

There are many choices. Marshalls, I'm not a big fan of. Fenders are alright, but not my first choice. Vox, what I always play through. Nothing sounds better than a Gibson Les Paul through a cranked AC30. Strats also sing through them as well. The only Fender amp I've like for playing bluesy rock is a Dual Showman half stack.

I am a wife of a professional jazz/blues guitarist of 17 years. He'd have the best answer, but I thought you might like to listen to some stuff he did at www.myspace.com/neallucasmusic
he uses tube amps all the way. Fender mostly, but he's got several amps. if you myspace, i'm sure he'd be more than happy to give you some tips.

The new Epiphone amps have the ' LOOK " , and the prices are right, too. See a GIBSON dealer.
