God made it so that humans have"free will." That means, in some cases, we actually choose to bring evil to us. Life on this world is meant to be a learning ground for what we will need to know for eternity. Lucifer was given free power over the earth for a time, but God won't let it go on for ever.

i think it might be because of free will... if he waves his finger then people would have to stop doing as they wish and fall into an unnatural discipline... and it would not really be fair if his finger just zapped all the bad folks in the world as that way they wouldn't get a chance to change... if you believe in god, and heaven, then I'm sure u believe in hell- which will eventually fry all bad ppl that decided to stay evil right?

He could, but he doesn't want to. He made it this way on purpose. The world is exactly the way it should be.
There are a great many things to be learn by evil. When you do it or when it is done to you.
If I had a button that could be pushed to fix War, Hunger, Natural Disaster, Murder, Hate, and everything else that is considered evil, I would never push it. It is needed.

God can do anything, he could stop evil in a second but it's all to do with the freewill thing. God gave us freewill so we could choose between Him and evil and we chose evil. If God stopped evil then he would stop our freewill so we would have no choice in whether we want to accept him as Lord or not.

Like everything else, God uses the presence of evil to accomplish His divine purpose. He makes evil into good, good into righteousness and righteousness into salvation. Not bad for a days work, eh?

This is funny actually...I guess He CAN and maybe even WANTS to...BUT he does not because of "free will" or something, that we need temptations for it. So I guess that means, that God allows all suffering in the world, no? and that he lets women get raped and people murdered just to prove a point or something? Sounds barbaric to me...hope this helps!! ^_^

God gives us free will to act upon evil impulses or not. He could make us exist or not if he chose, but what would be the point?

We live in a fallen world. When Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, they disobeyed GOD and chose a new master, satan. JESUS CAME AND DIED FOR OUR SINS, purchasing the world back from satan. Any person who receives HIM as SAVIOR is born anew into spiritual life. The BIBLE is GOD's love message to us, and if one studies it, one will find it explains why the world is as it currently is. JESUS is coming back soon, and those who have been truly seeking GOD, will have discovered JESUS is the GOOD LORD and they will escape eternal darkness with the master they have chosen to stay with, satan. THE GOOD NEWS IS THIS: GOD LOVES YOU!...HE WAS IN CHRIST JESUS RECONCILING A LOST WORLD TO HIMSELF...."FOR GOD SOOO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, SO THAT ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM, SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE"( JOHN 3:16)...TRULY SEEK GOD, ASK JESUS INTO YOUR HEART...YOU'LL COME TO SEE THE LIGHT...THERE'S SOOO MUCH MORE TO BE EXPLAINED, BUT, PLEASE, ATTEND A CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND STUDY THE BIBLE (OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT) ...ALL THE ANSWERS ARE IN THERE....I RECOMMEND A CALVARY CHAPEL....THEY'RE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND WORLD. GOD BLESS YOU!

I think this theodicy (this problem with evil in spite of a loving god) seems to me one of the weakest arguments against god and is more commonly employed by people who believe in god but dont 'understand him'.
After all there are lots of possible explanations - god can't intervene, god doesn't care, god likes evil, god doesn't want to interfere with free will, to test faith - so on and so on.
I think its because he doesn't exist.

he allows great evil to act because he doesn't want to interfere with the world. Once that great evil is dead he sends them to a greater evil (hell) and rewards those who endured the evil and preserved the good in humanity.
