I profoundly disagree. IF "God" existed, moral "absolutes" would be crystal clear and ubiquitous. Most faiths agree on the basics (Think about the other person's point of view once in a while, etc.), but the details are all over the road. Waving your chosen holy book does not legitimize your particular viewpoint. And saying, "If I can think about life, there MUST be a point to life, so there MUST be an evaluation, and THEREFORE an Evaluator," is not a logical progression. It is only a wish.
Christians seem most adamant that "God" will reward and punish us all, based on our beliefs. Yet they also would agree that it is wrong to punish ignorance. The fact that the "gospel" is not preached to everyone, and not always preached well, presents a problem for the "justice" of God. An apologist may explain that God will give the underevangelized soul a chance after death to embrace the faith (clearly presented under ideal circumstances, with the alternatives perilously obvious), but this is hardly fair to the person who has struggled a lifetime with faith and dies without a second chance.
The idea also cheapens salvation, turning it into something like a dog-training exercise. If we can't be "moral" without a treat or a stick, have we really learned to take on the aspect of Christ? If our motivation is not selfless love, heaven is a bribe, not a reward.
The purpose of life is survival. The purpose of humanity is for humanity to survive and improve its chances for suvival by learning to understand the world it inhabits. The purpose of an individual human is to contribute to that effort. Even though one may not survive to see the ultimate result, we can see the progress. Compare such an attitude with the so-called "Christian" model: What's in it for me?
I know many altruistic Christians, but the selfish ones, who admit they only behave because God is "watching", disturb me.

There are a few different theories about the meaning of life:
1. You are all worthless and you don't have to exist so stop taking it for granted.
2. The only purpose in life is sex.
3. In order to have a purpose you have to find it.
4. Your purpose in life is god.
5. The purpose of life is to have fun and make the most out of it and to help others do so aswell.
6. Screw life I wish I was never born.
7. It beats the alternative.

When you know God, and acknowledge that He exists, and understand the true meaning of what Jesus Christ did for us on th Cross, life has a mean, and a purpose. When you don't, you become your own god, and eventually bitterness, depression, and a lack to live sets in. Then you also start breaking all the moral, honourable rules that make up a good society.
It boils down to two things. Know God, and society improves.
Reject Him, and society goes back into a cesspool of exactly what we are seeing happening in our society today.

I disagree. The belief in God says we have an grand purpose of life. Taking God away does not mean we lose meaning in life, it simply changes the meaning of life based on individual perception.
However, the fact that life's meaning is ALREADY based on individual perception, and ALL humans do NOT agree on a grand purpose, I would say that you are only proving your case to be wrong. If there were a God who was the meaning of life, then shouldn't every human's meaning of life be God?
We as a society already have some absolute right and wrong views on some morals; that is, it is always wrong to cheat, murder, commit adultry, or cause any type of harm on another human being. We do not need a bible to tell us what is wrong. If we don't have law and order society fails, and we don't progress.
The bible tells us it is wrong to beat our slaves to death. Society has decided it is wrong to own slaves period. We don't need the bible.

No, the meaning of life is different for everyone and god plays no part in it as we each see the world through our own perspective and believe what we wish to believe as there is no way to prove the validity of either argument.

Nope. I am an atheist, and I have meaning in my life. I don't need to know that God is giving me meaning and purpose. I am happy the way I am.

The meaning of life is simple. It beats the alternative. Why are we here? Someone was having fun one night. No mucic. No long scrole in heaven. No angels singing. Just what I said.

Only because you let a mythical being be what you hang the meaning of your life on. You gave your life mean, you just call that meaning "god."
