Poisonous - no. Unhealthy, yes, as is any kind of animal watse. Just clean it up as best you can, but please don't kill the birds. Best wishes.

Pigeon Poop

Its only poisonous if you eat it, I scrape the floor of my pigeon coop every morning and most evenings and I am doing fine.

Pigeon poop can be very useful if you know how to use it. It is in fact a brilliant fertilizer, it has done wonders for my sunflower plants this year! I just scrape it all into a bucket, leave it for a day or two then dig a hole and tip it in!

Pigeon Guano

It may very well make you sick if you ingest it. Remember all the recall of contaminated beef now in the news. One thing of note: if this excrement is left in the sun the utraviolet renders it harmless, as all the e coli bacteria are killed. You could pick up dried bird droppings that have been lying in the sun all day and snack off it and nothing would happen. As a matter of fact, one of the steps in the treatment of wastewater in a sewage treatment plant is to pass the effluent though strong ultraviolet lights to kill bacteria. At the end of the process the sewer water, which not so long ago exited someone's toilet, is safe to drink.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.

Pigeon droppings are high in nitrogen. This can facilitate the growth of fungus. People inhaling the fungal spores could contract histoplasmosis, a potentially serious disease.

" Most people with histoplasmosis never develop signs and symptoms and aren't aware they have the disease. But for some people — primarily infants and those with compromised immune systems — histoplasmosis can be much more serious."

Pigeon "guano" is indeed very hazardous to human health. As with asbestos and lead, guano abatement is fast becoming a big money maker.

Cite: Guano
Bird & bat guano, typically found in aircraft hangars, church steeples and attics, can cause histoplasmosis and must be removed by trained and fully protected environmental technicians.

A large amount of poop can not be good.

I recall reading that a lot of pigeons could lead to mental problems.

When my friends mother was younger, a pigeon crapped right in her mouth. She was actually lucky she didn't get sick...but only eating it can possibly get you sick.
