I truly believe in Jesus Christ and consider myself a devout Christian, but there are times that I question my faith or belief in God.

Jesus prayed in the garden before His death, questioning His faith, too - "Father, why have you forsaken me?"

Mother Theresa had her doubts and wondered where was God while seeing the suffering of children in Calcutta.

I would think the Jews during the Holocaust prayed for help from God and they must've had their doubts, and the Jews are the "Chosen People."

Have you ever had these doubts and questions, and if so, how did you overcome them?

I pray to Christ and the Virgin Mary and others who I have loved and who've died, and I find peace and answers, but I have a hard time lately believing that God exists, and that God is Love.

I was raised my entire life believing in a non-vengeful God and that God loves us all.

Have you ever questioned the existence of God?

It seems anyone could easily doubt the existence of God, if they need proof based on criteria they create themselves. Generally God us understood to be beyond the material world and thus not proveable in empirical terms. One reason for the confusion is that many groups claim to have the 'answer', the 'truth' about the 1 God. As God can't be proven, their theories or beliefs can be as apparently true as another. Thus a person ends up having to face what Faith means to them, in a way they can live with. Some have faith or belief that what they Churches for example say is true, other faith is based on direct internal experience of the Divine. Different people can accept or live with different beliefs and verification levels. All will have to deal with the contigencies in life, such a death, suffering of the innocent, which can make them question why God would let bad things happen to good people. Those who prefer to accept God is not visible, and is beyond our capacity to understand or fully experience, they can come to terms that doubts are part of the package that comes with living in a human body on earth.
To accept that God takes care of our spirit, and allows us to face material challenges, that can help us not be attached to needing the world to work out the way our egos wish, can help us not be lured by those who promise a perfect life if we just do as they say God told them we should act. Hope this is not to abstract...good luck in your life.

With my 1st pregnancy.... starting at 20 weeks, life fell apart. Within 4months we lost our baby, found out his sis was 17 and pregnant, and he left for a year remote with the Air Force. I yelled at God, I screamed at God, and then I told Him I didn't believe in Him anymore because obviously there couldn't be a God if he would let this happen.
I was not on speaking terms with him for about 2 years. Thankfully, I slowly came back, and I apologized for my behavior, and knew that even though I wasn't on speaking terms with him, he had never left my side. I've come through the journey stronger in my faith and more reliant on Him, but it's not a journey I wish on anyone.

I don't question the existence of God, but honestly sometimes I wonder why he lets bad things happen to good people, especially my former pastor who died of cancer. He was a genuine, sincere pastor, who cared about people and he suffered with bone cancer before dying at the age of 52. He used to admonish us about having faith and even believed that God was going to heal him, right up until the end, and that really dealt a blow to my faith. I believe that he is with the Lord now, I just don't understand why he had to suffer and then die at a relatively young age.

It's not uncommon to have questions or doubts about one's faith. Most thinking people do. I've never truly lost faith in God, but I've sure got a lot of questions at times...questions that most of my fellow churchgoers don't seem willing to talk about.

I started to lose my faith about 11 years old, then completely at about 15 - total atheist since then. Religion is an unhealthy drug that poisons and fools the mind
