What drives you to be a bathroom bandit?

A combination of things probably — showing off to their friends, marking their territory, destructive urges, boredom cos they haven't got a better place to be, lack of respect for the facilities and others who use them. Pick one :0

I don't frequent the men's room, but women do it too. I enjoy reading them if I'm stuck spending any amount of time in there. I don't like it when people just scrawl their names and such, but I love the witty poetry. In one bathroom (in a music venue) in Germany, I saw "Tom Waites for no man!" I even have a book of bathroom grafitti.

Bathroom entertainment, I love reading the writings on the wall! It's not like I carry a magazine or newspaper with me every where I go, so what else do we have to read?!
I love getting thumbs down for answering the question. The question is NOT "Don't you agree that it's only losers who do it?", it's "WHAT is it that DRIVES guys to deface bathrooms?"

Take it from someone that cleaned bathrooms for years. Women's bathroom are defaced and more dirty than men's.

Believe it or not, girls deface bathrooms a lot more than guys do. It's all "I love so and so" or "so and so is a &$^%*.
I think it comes from not having anything else to do while you are taking care of business.

Meaningful or clever graffiti is good in the bathroom. One BR I use has tiny words written on the grout. Many people write stuff, like "The Grout Wall of China, It's raining groutside, The Groutful Dead, etc." There are about 50 of them.
How could you NOT add one?

Perhaps the only mark they feel they can leave on the world is some scribble on a bathroom wall?

i am a guy and have never defaced a bathroom, i have fitted quite a few.

I don't know! I wish I did, I don't understand why people pick their nose and wipe it on the walls. They do it here at work (in the factory) but the walls in the office bathrooms are clean. I mean you have to see that stuff everyday.

Same thing that makes them think that smashing mailboxes is a good time...undeveloped frontal lobe and too much testosterone without a proper release!
