Try a clarifying shampoo every other day. Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is the best one.

Do not use a conditioner until you get the oil under control. The apply a light conditioner only to the ends & rinse really well.

Other remedies for oily scalp & hair:

1) Apply witch hazel to your scalp with a cotton ball or by putting a bit in your hands & running them through your scalp.

2) A vinegar rinse: "Apple cider vinegar gets rid of residue build-up on hair, leaving it soft and shiny. Mix 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar with 1 quart water and use as a final rinse after shampooing." http://www.care2.com/greenliving/apple-cider-vinegar-kitchen-cupboard.html

3) "Add 1 teaspoon of Epsom salts to 1/2 cup of shampoo and shampoo as usual. You may increase the amount of Epsom salts a little at a time as needed." http://www.care2.com/greenliving/rx-for-problem-hair.html

I also have oily hair and these "methods" somewhat help me:

The more often you wash it, the more oil your follicles produce, since washing it too much pulls out all the oils. So for one, try washing it once a day or even once every two days. At first, you may be miserable because your hair will be pretty oily, but it should get used to the less frequent washing after a while.

Second, try not to use conditioner at all, but if you have to for detangling, use it only on the ends. (Avoid the roots at all costs!)

Also, don't blow dry it after washing it. Over-drying adds to increased oil production.

Lastly, try not to touch it so much with your hands. Oil from your hands adds to the greasiness.

To much conditioner too.

Try washing you hair with something like "head and shoulders". It's really bad for you hair but it can actually dry it out some.

Also... use your shampoo but cut out the conditioner completely for a while. Wash the hair once. Don't do the twice thing and then conditioner.

Conditioner makes the hair soft but puts oils into the hair. Washing it actually takes oils out. Cheap shampoos could really dry out your hair stopping the oily conditions you have.

Good luck.

Its not that your washing your hair too much its that your not getting all the conditioner out when you rinse... shower once a day and get all the conditioner out that should help if not switch shampoo...

I would forgo the conditioner if I were you- I have found it makes my hair unbelievably gross(as if an oil tanker had overturned on my head). I can never seem to get all of it out, and it caused me to get nasty pimples and blackheads in areas where my hair touches down(like my shoulders). Once I ditched the conditioner, the oil slick upon my hair was history.

What you need to Do is .. First of all when washing make sure you wash all of your conditioner out . and i mean all of it ..
leaveing shampoo/conditioner in the hair causes it to be greesy .

every other day
as you are washing all the goodness out of your hair ..
third
do not mess wiff your hair all the time as the greese of your hands then goes on your hair causeing it to be greesy

dont use conditioner, dont use syling products, and keep your hair off your face, because your makeup can cause you hair to become oily too.and sometimes straightening your hair can help make it less noticable most of the time.ir this doesnt work, see a hair stylist.maybe even a doctor or something to see if they can help see whats going on.

good luck.hope i helped. =]

if you wash it or brush it too much it will fall out.
stop washing it so much, your hair needs natural oils to stay healthy, wash it once a day, or every other day, if you can bare it..
