I'm just curious. And if you did believe what church(es)/faiths did you belong to and what was the big moment that finally made you say 'I don't think so'. Thanks!

I used to be Catholic. I still maintain that Catholicism is the best of the Christianic sects, although I'm sure most people here would disagree, since there are a lot of evangelical types here.

I think most people like me would agree that there is no 'big moment', more of an accumulation of doubts and concerns which eventually reach a critical mass and one refutes the teachings that ones parents and ones church had spent so long reinforcing.

I'm not atheist though, I am a strict agnostic, meaning that I have suspended act of choosing to believe in God or not, since he is innately unprovable. Strictly means that I believe no one can know the answer, although there are agnostics that simply beleive God has not appeared to them, but may have done to other people.

I was a Gnostic/Atheist, my parents were Atheists, then along with my grandmother, I was baptised (unwittingly) Lutheran, studied years with Jehovah's witness, read the book of Mormon as my brother is an Elder in the Mormon church, Studied History, Science and "religions" and "Mythology" for a great deal of my life. Became a Christian in 1997, after a thorough examination and fact finding journey of the Holy Word of God, on my own, using various other books, and other research materials. Then personally witnessing miracle after miracle. "I think SO" about Christianity due to FACTS..not because "I want to believe" or because it makes me "feel good/better" but because I KNOW it is the TRUTH!

I did. i'm uncertain i understand what you advise by a dating with God, yet after a mutually as with each and all the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of religion, I purely did no longer purchase it anymore. It regarded like the solid human beings I depended on weren't religious, and each and all the Christians I knew have been nicely, no longer so stable. over the years I purely grew up and stopped believing in lies.

I used to be a Baptist/Catholic, but my family has always been secular and non-religious. When I was 14 and really always questioned god's existance, I began to read articles online (and came here) and found that atheistic arguments are always more compelling and believable than some of the Christian answers I get here. I would go more in depth, but you pretty much know the standard answer.

Was a Christian with a healthy does of Charismatic and Fundamental Evangelist. It wasn't a single moment just a slow evaluation of the facts, once I realized that creation and ID were a bunch of myths it wasn't hard to see that the rest was as well.

Never believed in God, though I tried to as a little kid. I went to church, read a few Bible stories and prayed, but I couldn't make myself believe in something that wasn't there. God was like my imaginary friend--fun to think about, but the idea needed to be discarded past childhood.

I don't know if I ever believed in God or not. I can tell you that I wanted to, so so badly, but I had such a hard time with it. When I as a kid, I was baptized in a Lutheran Church. Didn't stick around long enough to be confirmed. I was 16, and I tried to commit suicide, and I remember sitting in my room, crying for God to help me and make me better, and he never did. That was my big "I don't think so" moment.

Agnostic might have been accurate 20 years ago. No church affiliation.

Soul-searching, reading the bible and many other books has cemented my belief that there is no supernatural being.
