Well, we would need to know the gender of your partner, and how long the symptoms have been showing. The tiredness, foggy brain and lack of sleep have a correlation but the nausea and the diarhoea sure depends on other factors. See a doctor

IBS, without a doubt - I have EXACTLY the same symptoms. Is he stressed at work or anxious? This can make it worse. It could be a vicious circle, worrying about the symptoms = anxiety = worse symptoms. Good luck, I understand how worrying and hard to live with this is. I find that Kalms herbal tablets help slightly.

Does Brian drink a lot in the evening?

I'd say that's why he's 'foggy' in the morning...

when you said chronic diarrhoea I assumed IBS, but your partner has to go to the doctor to get referred to a specialist.

HMMMM difficult to say as it may well be that he/she is run down. you don't say how long the patient has had these symptoms so it's hard to say what it is. it may well just be a tummy bug. get to the docs.

If he goes to the doctor, they will probably just say it is "stress", they always do.

But I do think he should visit his doctor anyway, just in case.
