Being 5'7" and weighing 126 is a well balanced ratio for a boxer. You don't need to gain weight (being heavier doesn't make you a better fighter), you need to become faster, stronger, build up your endurance, and toughen up those abs.
To start off, start jogging 2-3 miles, sprints, jumprope, push ups, crunches, sit-ups, leg raises, lunges, and squats around 3-6 times a week. You can vary it up how ever you like, but don't go 100% right away, work into it slowly. Also don't just buy a bag and start throwing wild punches, that is a good way to develop bad habits and possibly screwin up your wrists, because you don't probaly even know how to throw a proper punch yet. Just start working out now so you can come into the gym in good condition and focus more on learning. Oh yeah, and try to improve your diet (you will notice a difference). I hope you have a good trainer in your area and good luck.

If you're naturally walking around at 126 lbs, don't think about gaining any weight just yet. In boxing, people get divided up into different weight classes and you usually want to get as light as you can. Even at 126, when you start training regularly and have a coach and all, you can probably easily go down to 115. But for now, stay at 126.

For endurance, you need to eat properly and work out like a monster. Hit the gym for about two hours five days a week, but don't work out on weekends. That'll give your muscles proper time to recover. At least a couple of hours before your workout, you should go on a jog for about 20-30 minutes. Jog at about 60% full speed and every now and then mix a sprint in there; so jog for like 5 minutes, then sprint full speed for about 50 yards, then jog again, then sprint again, etc.

As far as eating right, just stop eating fast food, junk food, and no soda. If you get rid of those three, you'll do wonders to your body.

When it comes to the gear you should buy...A 100 lb heavybag is good. You should also buy a speed bag (for handspeed), a double-end bag (for movement), and a jump rope (which will help with footwork and agility). Get some sorta heavy gloves, either 16 oz. or 18 oz. gloves. That way, when you wear lighter 10 oz. or 12 oz. gloves, your hands will feel a lot lighter and faster.

My #1 tip, though, is to join a boxing gym as soon as possible. You'll learn things there that you wouldn't be able to learn on your own.

To become a great kickboxer or boxer you must train hard and with intensity. It will take many years to be good. Also some people do not like to get hit so if you do not this is not your game. I would say about 4 or 5 times a week for about 2 hours a day or so. Roadwork, heavy bag hitting exercising all are a part of it. I used to train 2 golden gloves champ and came up with a formula these are the mandatory elements to be good. 1. Dedication 2. Talent 3. Desire 4. Motivation Also keep properly hydrated during workouts very important.

I want to be 126...lol I'm 133. But enough about me... First thing to tell you is if you're really serious about boxing DON'T GAIN ANY WEIGHT. The reason for that is once you start working out you'll find out that it's way easier to gain weight than to loose it...Unless you know what weight class you want to be don't gain weight, and by the look of it I'm not sure you know what the best weight class would be for you.

As far as improving your boxing fundamentals, and endurance the best thing I can tell you base on experience is work out alot (spend lot of time on punching bag), and most importantly for your endurance "Eat Healthy". I've been boxing for almost a year and it's a struggle for me to go 4 rounds because I don't eat well, and keep in mind i've never smoked.

As far buying a punching bag go My farvorite bag are tall bags because they don't move as much as those short ones, and trust me you'd rather start with a tall since you don't know how to snap your punches yet. The size of the bag don't really matter but go for a heavy one 150 to 300.....

Buy a speed bag. an ideal punching bag for you should be about equal to your weight class. For endurance you really need to hit the jump rope and you should also do speed running. You know run as fast as you can for as long as you can and then cool down then do it again. That really raises your endurance. I am in MMA and found those to work best for me for endurance. Do it 3 times a week and on your off day jog or run the treadmill. Good Luck.

hey i answered your other question on your weight and it seems people here are agreeing with me.Buy a heavy bag so it wont move as much, and make sure you get hand wraps. However i wouldn't go at your bag too much as you can learn bad habits, these are very hard to shake off when you start training, but if you must go on it, only throw straight punches, start with your wrist twisted (your hands facing in towards your head),then as you punch twist your wrist round so your palm is facing the floor.also keep them as long / straight as you can (your arm fully extended),
O and by the way, don't wait to get into boxing, the sooner the better and as your soon 17 you will be moved into novices/intermediates instead of going into novices (for first 5 fights), well that's the way it is in Ireland!so go as soon as you can to get experience!
Hope this helps and good luck.
