Hello,
I have a dog who is around 10 years old and she has a fairly big lump on her stomach. Sometimes it bursts (with fluid), although it always grows back.

What could it be? A cyst? Cancer?..

My Labrador has a BIG BIG One size of a football! She always insisted on crawling under the gate on our walks to the wood and over the years rubbing her breast bone off the ground she developed this Lipoma or fatty lump as a form of protection. I did take her to the Vet, he stuck a needle in it got some oily clear liquid out and then explained that even if he removed it, chances are it would grow back. As long as the Dog is not concerned and she is not, then leave well alone. At almost 12 now way past her sell by date, chances are she would not survive the operation and why put her through it at this age?

It's probably just a cyst, but you could ask the vet about it at their next checkup. Usually they're not dangerous. My dog had a lump once so we asked the vet about it and he cut into it and found a bullet. He used to like to run through the woods chasing deer and a hunter must of shot him by accident.

This is probably a fatty tumor. Go to the section about dogs/animals and talk to a vetrinarian. My dog got those when he was old and lived a very long time afterward. Without seeing what is actually on your dog it is hard to be sure if it is the same thing.... but it sure sounds like it.

TAKE HER TO THE VET. Most likley it is a cyst if it bursts, but it could get infected and then you would REALLY have a problem. TAKE HER NOW!
