All work and no play isn't good for anyone or God!

Because He did it as an example to us to take a day out to rest and worship Him. He knew our physical bodies would need a break and that a day of worshipping Him would prepare us for the next week.

God didn't need the rest. God granted rest as an example to creation. That's the standard Judeo-Christian take on this.

Grace & Peace!

wouldn't YOU want to take the opportunty to rest if you knew that you'd have to spend the rest of your days worrying about and guiding the lives that you've just brought into the world (especially when they will expect you to be invincible AND get everything right all of the time, AND meet all of their needs AND treat them all as favorites, etc.)???

He didn't have to physically rest, but rather He took the time to look at what He had done. As we shall see later, we too, are to follow His example!

I've heard it explained as the same way a ball will come to a rest when it's stopped rolling.

He is all powerful, but he was setting an example to us. And he was finished!! when you're finished, you're finished....why not rest? he wasn't tired, he was showing us what we should do after a week of work.

Hey, everyone deserves a break from time to time. I mean, even superman rested at times. I mean, he was probably knackered; he had just finished creating the world for gods sake!

Nobody said he had to rest. He just freakin' felt like it.

I mean, he is God, right? I say he can do whatever he wants.
