You're right, Jesus said that the Son did not know, only the Father. This is another example of why God and Jesus are two different beings. They are both certainly vital to the Christian faith, but Jesus is not God. Otherwise, why would He say things like this?

First, let me just say that those of you who said Jesus is not God by Himself is simply wrong. Sorry, there is no other way to put it. He is,was, and always will be God. Now to answer the question. Jesus did say that the angels in heaven did'nt know the time of His second coming and neither did He. But this was while He was still alive on earth. You see Jesus emptied Himself of His divine power during His incarnation. Does that mean He lost His power or that He was no longer God? Of course not. But as a man He gave His will up to the Father,to be obedient to His Father's will instead. In this He gave us an example of how we should live in relationship to our heavenly Father and obey His will in all things.

Jesus is part of the god-head (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). But Jesus himself is not God.
It's confusing stuff.

if you will read beginning w/ matt. 24:3, you will see that Jesus was answering questions of his disciples about the future .... they asked, "what shall be the sign of Thy coming & the end of the world?"
("world" in gk. "aion", meaning "age").
Jesus then began answering these questions referring to the future in verses 4-51.
Jesus says, false prophets will deceive many, there will be wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes in diverse places, but the gospel of the kingdom will continue to be preached.
beginning in vs. 15, Jesus speaks of the last 7 years before the rapture ...
vs. 16-26, He speaks of the great tribulation (the wrath of satan) .....
then beginning in vs. 27-31, Jesus speaks of His 2nd coming... & the rapture of the Saints.
vs. 34 that you refer to in your question ....
Jesus is not referring to the time of the disciples ... but a time in the future ....
Jesus is telling his disciples that the generation who experiences the things He has just explained to them in vs. 14-26, He will come back (specifically, vs. 29-31).
so YES, of course He knows when He will come back.
He gave us a timetable in scripture.
WE are the generation who will see these things.
WE are the generation upon whom the ends of the age have come.

According to the New Testament, Jesus was an aspect of God, not God Himself. As an aspect, he would not necessarily have the same proposed abilities of God, such as Omnipresence.

He was defering to the will of the father, just as he had done all during his ministry.
Saying that, we too, should accept that there are things that our Father doesn't want us to know until we are ready for it.

Jesus is G-D but the son of G-D and only the father knows, our pee brains can not understand the mysteries of G-D. if he tell us of earthly things and we don't believe him, then why should he tell of heavenly things.

Maybe he did and nobody wrote about it so the Church could have the Apocalypse to dangle over everyone. Fear makes for good sermons.
