I usually run 4-5 times a week. 3-4 miles each time.
However, lately I have been feeling pain in the inner/front part of my lower leg, around the shin area.
It initially just started on my right leg, but now I am starting to feel the small symptoms on my left leg as well.
While running, it feels very painful and stiff. And after cooling down there is a dull ache in the shin area.
I also can feel slight raised bumps along the bone on my lower inner leg.
All these seem to point to shin splints, but I've never had problems before in all my years running. I am 20 years old and have been running regularly since I was 13.

One of the best cures for shin splints is to strengthen the front of your calf muscle (the one that runs along your shin bone). You can do this by running or walking backwards for about 1/4 of a mile before every workout. The running (or walking) does not have to be fast. After doing this for a while, you'll notice that the shin splints go away.
I'm not sure what surface you are running on, but you might want to consider a non-concrete/asphault surface until you are healed. (such as grass, a dirt trail, etc.) Hard surfaces often aggravate shin splints.

Sounds like shin splints to me. I used to run track and the front of my calves used to hurt after a couple hours into my workout. My coach suggested icing them before and after running and it did help. He said the reason for shin splints is a separation of the tendon from the bone. It may be something more serious, so I would talk to your doctor about it. Good luck.

as quickly as I had shin splints in my weight guidance class, we had to run popular, even nevertheless it helped to run a lap foreward, then a lap backwards then ice after the day. working backwards, believe it or not, somewhat facilitates with relieveing shin splints at a similar time as nonetheless getting your working in

Ouch.
Schedule an appointment for an MRI (or whatever your Dr. thinks is best) ASAP. You have to see what's wrong before you can fix it!
