I've had this point driven home to me an awful lot lately. I'm being totally serious asking this, btw. I can only judge things from my perspective of admittedly biased experience, so I'm curious what other's opinions are.

No, not in my experience. I have met jerks both pretty and ugly so it seems that the upbringing of the person and the attitude of the parents, etc. has much more to do with the person's attitude than outward appearance. And no, Jack, I don't think you are a jerk! If you were, you wouldn't be sensitive enough to ask such a question!

I know that there doesn't always have to be a good looker to be a jerk. I know that people who know that they can get plenty of people then they are more likely be a jerk because there is someone else out there that wants them anyways.
You just have to get to know the person. But if you look around women who are grown and married a lot of times marry the ugly guy because he's nice and the hot ones are jerks. But that doesn't mean every good looking person is going to be a jerk. Show them from the start that you are not putting up with the crape they give and then see from there.

I agree with The Nolte (wouldn't I just?). I've met more mean spirited ugly people than good looking. There are many unattractive women down here (Crete) most of them won't give me the time of day! I'm different from them, tall blonde, green eyes and I laugh ALL the time, and I've been told they feel threatened by the way I look and act (which is not very different from the way I act here, I'm always joking) . One time I was walking down the street and somebody started playing 'American Woman'. LOL. I find that overweight people have got to be the funnest people alive, while the attractive ones are just nonchalant.

Seriously, I've met jerks of all levels of attractiveness.
I do think that a good-looking person with an attitude APPEARS worse than one who is not so good-looking, but that's probably a touch of the old green-eyed monster!

No. The nicest & smartest girl I know is also the most beautiful girl I know. Okay, I'll admit she doesn't look like your average whore, or Paris Hilton clone, but she is.the.most.beautiful.girl.ever.
As for guys, the most beautiful.. errr....whore-good-looking guy I've ever met, he's a total jerk. But there's also a lot of hideous-looking guys that are jerks. As well as hideous looking girls that are jerks. Just ask Sara :) *cough*

no, they don't make a person more inclined to be a jerk, they make you more likely to be PERCEIVED as being a jerk. if you were ugly, and acting like a jerk, a woman would have a different name for you (such as a freak, creep, etc.)-- much worse than being called a jerk. that said, i do believe that men who women refer to as 'jerks' tend to be better looking because there is something inherent in the 'jerk' title that women are still interested in. so i don't think it's straight-up cause & effect (i.e. good looking :: jerk) so much that its effect is a biproduct of the cause (guy + something women like + undesirable behavior in their mind :: jerk). as soon as you remove the "something women like" piece (be it looks, money, success, attitude, etc.), then the guy is a flat-out loser in their minds. don't be down man, 'jerk' can be kind of a compliment when looked at in the right light.

No. I've been told in 'real life' that I'm very beautiful. I don't really see myself this way. Maybe that just makes me act differently, I don't know. I've never been told I'm a jerk. Jack, you're charming but not a jerk. You're letting The Nolte get to your head....NOT GOOD........

Not necessarily. There are some good-looking people who are nice and some who are jerks and most fall somewhere in between. It is important to try and keep an open mind.

I think good looks allow a person to get away with a lot more and society doesn't make good looking people work as hard to get what they want.
Or, we just don't expect much out of pretty people.
Either way, I think it makes good looking people more likely to be jerks than ugly people, just because they can get away with it.
