Here is how the United States Geological Service describes it: http://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/fossils/succession.html

The Bible describes all the plants being formed before all the animals. Why is that not how they appear in the Geology?

Fossil Succession says they showed up a little at a time over a long time. There is a chart on that link. They showed up together Not plants day 3 and animals day 5.

It isn't dependent on dates, only the way the layers are in the geology.

Oh, that's an easy answer. Creationists use many options. Most common is to ignore the evidence. Second is to claim gaps, even though as each gap is filled, to them that creates two more gaps. Another is to say it's not proof and try to throw some nonsense from Gish, Morris or Ken Ham at you.

there is not conflict when you know the Bible it describes the "creative days" (which are untold millions of yrs) but notice how the Bible lists the events of creation, in the same order that science does.

Now when God said to his son (the word) "lets make man in our image" (meaning moral image, qualities of Love, Justice, abstract thinking etc) he had to begin by creating an enviroment in which they could live. note gen 1:2, it showed the earth as formless & waste (like the moon) so first God's spirit had to make it habitful for plants (algae) then fish, then animals etc the last thing was Humans

Interesting point.

A simple web search on

-->> '"law of fossil succession" strata dating'

provides lots of hits.

There is a supplementary "Law of Superposition" which has nothing to do with the presence of fossils...

Read up kids.

I will never in my life understand how some Christians can believe that evolution is not happening .
That goes way beyond blind faith.
Tis true that there so many who have the need to be spoon fed or starve to death.
I am a Christian but will never believe that the world was created in one week.

Doesn't plant matter break down much more easily than animal matter, making it much more difficult for vegetation to become fossilized? Isn't all that prehistoric vegetation being burnt as fossil fuel?

Does the Law of Fossil Succession take into account the circular logic that is used to date the fossils by the strata that they are formed in?

Because the strata are dated from the fossils that are found in them.

Erm. Well. Erm.

Satan did it to trick you! Yes, that's it! Or evil atheist scientists faked their data! Thank God we have truthful and wise scientist like Dr Kent 'Dino' Hovind PhD MPhil Rsc on our side!

Excellent link!
Creationists won't touch it with a ten-foot pole.
I can't believe modern people still believe that crap.
They make up stupid reasons or outright lies to try and support their creation myth... It's sad, really.

All of the fossils in the earth are mixed together. There are no time line layers or successions. You would know this if you weren't too busy listening to evolutionists who discard over 50% of the evidence because it doesn't fit with their predetermined worldview.
