I need help, limewire, torrents, all p2p won't connect to networks on my vista computer. Any solutions?
I have tried a lot of things, from port forwarding, deleting Mcafee, installing and reinstalling limewire, frostwire, bearshare, ares and none will connect, they just say connecting to network and never do, bittorrents they never start downloading, from azureus, utorrent, bitcomet and others yet nothing. I have the latest java and microsoft updates, Limewire 4.14.8, frostwire 4.13.2, I try turning windows firewall off and nothing, I have AVG I close it and still nothing.

I have an XPS M1210 2046MB ram, Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 @2.00Ghz 32-bit OS Windows Vista Home Premium, I connect to the internet using the universities T1 connection, and before I got this new computer limewire worked on the universities connection as did azureus, my roommate has XP and his limewire works so its not the university thats blocking it.

Don't waste my time by saying Vista sucks and get something else, I just need a solution on how to get limewire to connect to the network. Any help is appreciated.

Windows Firewall dosent turn off by any other method than stopping the service. here is how to do it.

Go to run. Type services.msc locate the windows firewall / Internet connection Sharing. Right click go to properties.

click stop and then change the drop down to disabled.

Do the same for Security center too.

Of course this is no recommended if you plug directly from your computer to your cable / DSL modem...

this happens to me each and all the time, in spite of the fact that if i also have a connection or no longer. i does not advise reinstalling, its too plenty attempt and fairly pointless via fact this might ensue no depend what. i hit upon if I leave my pc on with the limewire application minimized, it is going to truly works (it takes approximately 5-30 minutes for this maximum cases) so attempt minimizing as I in many cases do, and if that still doesnt artwork, verify firewalls.

Is his LimeWire working right now? The uni might have 'fixed' 'this bug'. University networks are very, very good at filtering traffic.

Universities have very fast connections, and are very, very good at filtering what goes on through them. If they are responsible, you will have a very, very hard time getting round it.
