a dogs gestatin period is 63 days.

You will notice a temp drop with the puppies to follow within 12 hours.

If you dog had the temp drop and no puppies and you are past 63 days, you should see the vet right away.

There can be another cause for being late and if you wait, the outcome may not be desirable.

I hope this helps.

btw, the normal Temp for a dog is 102, based on what you say, you should have pups by now.

I have 4 chi's and I have raised a litter of puppies. Please get your dog to the vet immediately. Chihuahua's often have very difficult deliveries and need to have C-sections. Her temp is very low, a normal temp for a dog is 100.5 to 102.5. Normal period of gestation for a canine is 62-65 days so I wouldn't worry about that too much however the temperature is an indicator that something has or is currently going wrong.

I would call your vet if your not seeing signs of labor yet. I am not a breeder, I usually see the case after its been in labor for a while, but in my experience the temp will drop a degree or two (down to about 99) but if it goes any lower than 97.9 I'd be worried.

Just leave her alone. Labour will start when it is ready. Home calculation of when she is due can normally be a few weeks out as the exact date of conception is unknown. If she is generally ok in herself she is ok, but if you are worried then take her to the vets. Also, dont keep taking her temperature. Im sure at full term she doesnt want to keep being messed with!

If it's been more than 24 hrs. since her temperature dropped, then it's time to take her to the vet. She may need some help delivering these puppies. Good Luck!

I would call the vet, it's common for chihuahuas to need c-sections because of their small size.

Call your vet - since you don't seem to be an experienced breeder - what about the experienced breeder you have been working with before you started breeding yourself?
