If people believe in God, they try to live according to biblical principles. The bible has something to say about alcohol drinking, so it's perfectly normal that a religious person don't drink for religious reasons.
Also, religious people believe that their body is a home for the Holy Spirit, so they try to stay away from everything that causes the body to malfunction such as alcohol.

That is fine if that is what they believe.I think Muslim theocratic nations go to far though. They outlaw alcohol because of their beliefs and take away even having the choice. What is the point of following a religion if people can't make the choice?
I choose not to consume alcohol and do so without religion or morality as my reason.I'm just not into drinking.Maybe I will have a glass of wine with dinner and even then that only happens a couple times a year. But I am glad to have the choice either way.

What is wrong with not drinking alcohol? Nothing. Some people dont need artificial stimulants to make them feel good or to relieve stress. I for one do not drink, never have and no I do not feel as if I missed out on something. I have a very blessed life

I'm a Christian, and I think it's ok to drink, if it's in moderation. I do think it's wrong to get drunk. Jesus even turned water into wine at a wedding.
I used to have an occasional drink when I was younger, but I never really liked the taste, so I figured one less vice is good. I'm already a sugar-aholic.
EDIT: Lilith, who can't have coffee or tea? Although I don't like coffee, I love my Diet Pepsi!

I think they're foolish. The only religion I know of that has a prohibition on alcohol is Islam, but then I've read the Qur'an and I don't get Islam at all. Just don't see the point. Must be just me, but why anyone would want to believe all that stuff completely escapes me.

I think that it is a good choice. I don't drink for because of religious beliefs and because I just think it is stupid. I have had like 50 people try to pressure me into drinking but after watching them act like idiots and stuff forget it.

Every violent crime in our country and some crimes that are not violent are increased with the use of alcohol. The more people that abstain the better. I know that not everyone that drinks commits a crime but it is the ones that do that give it a bad rap! ( I used to drink a lot but quit when I became a christian)

I respect other people´s views and I highly respect those who choose to stick to their values. However, my grandfather used to say that there were only two reasons why people didn´t drink: 1. They´re AA, justifiable, 2. They´re wierd.

I respect them most highly-they have self control & are probably mature & contented enough not to need it-& they can see a mile off that drink doesnt solve problems or make you a mature person, which is the false belief that many drinkers hold.
