Say you get your nipples pierced and then weeks later you find out that you were pregnant. What effect would this have on the piercing? What about the baby?

If you're just now pregnant, you have plenty of time to heal from the piercing (whether you leave it in or not). It's probably obvious that you'll need to have the piercing out regardless if you breastfeed the child. There might be some discomfort as the pregnancy progresses and your body kicks into gear for taking care of the child. There isn't anywhere near sufficient damage to the nipple to make breastfeeding impossible.

A friend of mine had both pierced and said it wasn't a big deal, she just took them out when nursing. She did say that one nipple felt a little tight in her third trimester, so she didn't leave the ring in often. On the other hand, she was mostly sleeping on her back at that point, so it wasn't like the piercing would catch on as much.

And assuming you are pregnant (& want to be), congratulations!

i got my nipples pierced, and found out i was pregnant 4 months later. there was no effects on my pregnancy whatsoever, my dr saw them during my initial exam, and he said that they should be no problem. I left them in until the day I was induced.

I breastfed, and I was planning on trying to keep the holes open, and just put the rings in after each feeding(not safe to leave them in- suction from the baby could pull the ball out, choke factor). Of course, for the first two weeks my nipples were way too sore to keep pushing the ring in and out, 8+ times a day. They closed from the inside out, so I am waiting until my last one is weaned to pierce again.

The funniest part was for my first 2 babies, the holes were still open enough to let milk come out, so I had milk shooting out of each side of my nipple, along with all the holes at the top of the nipple. It was rather funny, and helped increase my milk flow lol.

Okay, it's the same as with a tattoo. You aren't supposed to just incase you get an infection because the baby is directly feeding off of your body but most don't result in infections when done right. Just tell your doctor, be careful not to irritate it and if it shows any signs of beginning to get infected take it out so that it can heal and be cleaned easier. If nothing goes wrong then it will not harm the baby. The odds of having a problem are actually very very slim when done by a pro and cleaned properly.

You will have 3 holes instead of 1. They may heal if you remove the ring or stud or little bell. If you have attached lights, it may be a little dimmer. As described, they may be too sore during breast feeding to re pierce each time. If you want them pierced again, do it after the baby has had his series of lu nches. I hope you have a beautiful baby, boy or girl. You may have second opinions about the piercing after the child is with us. Piercings generally heal. Good health would dictateno piercings at the time of breast feeding, with the danger of infection. Enjoy the joy of the child. Do your best to give him or her the best.

As long as you don't pick up an infection, the baby will be fine. As for the peircing, wear them as long as you're comfortable with them in. Though some women's breasts change sizes and shapes as they go through pregnancy, most don't seem to have problems with them. If you plan on breastfeeding, you should remove the jewelry prior to the birth of the baby, He/she probaly doesn't want a mouth full of metal. :) And congratulations.

You should remove your nipple piercings, so that they could be healed in time for you to breast feed your baby.

It doesn't change anything. You could use a nipple shield while breast feeding or you could take it out.

you pierced your nipples not your womb.
the baby will be o.k.
that might hinder breast-feeding though so you should remove them and let them heal

you can't do anything about it now, just take good care of them and make sure that they don't get infected. they may have a hard time healing with all of the changes that breast tissue goes thru, and your doctor may advise you to take them out but i'm not sure about that.
good luck!
