Did some sort of evidence convince you to become a Christian?

Is there anyone out there who became a Christian even after they took college courses about evolution and natural selection?

They do use logic, it just isn't always sound. Looking at world history chronologically, as opposed to theologically, one would have to rule out the validity of that particular faith. Unfortunately, they don't look at world history chronologically. They look to see how the world of evidence fits in their religion, rather than how their religion fits within the world of evidence.

I have a friend that is in graduate school studying astrophysics. He has been an atheist ever since he learned about evolution in high school. He went all through college with that same belief. It got really bad when he took a course on human evolution alone. After studying the universe in depth for 3 years, and knowing the big bang theory inside and knowing the statistics, he finally admits that a creator might be possible. He even admitted that there are some things about evolution that makes him question whether it is a random process or not. Sometimes, science can point in the direction of a creator. Usually, that only happens for people that are not biased towards their own belief, and that is extremely rare.

If you want to argue you've come to the right place. Many on Yahoo! Answers will want to argue with you. I'm glad you have questions but the Bible does not cover science, it covers what God thinks we need to know to live a holy life and to seek Him in doing so. He didn't tell us everything because at that time, they would not have understood. Science on the other hand is full of theories without proof and therefore is still just a theory. What I do know without a doubt is this, Jesus came to set the captive free. (That includes me...and everyone else.) He came to offer salvation as a free gift that can not be earned. Something you have left out. Our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Even though you don't believe in Him... He still believes in you. Seek Him while you may find Him. If you seek Him with all your heart you will find Him. He's not hiding.

No religion can possibly stand up to logic and reason . How can you explain a three-in-one god ? How can you logically explain a person being his own father ?
Is it reasonable to believe in angels , part bird and part human ? Religion is pure belief , no questions asked , no explanations.
There are only a few shreads of actual historical knowledge about Jesus , but thousands of books about him have been printed. Thousands of sermons go on non-stop for two thousand years . Logic ? Reason ?

Yes. I became a Christian in Jr. High. I have taken college courses in religion, biology etc. and am still a Christian.

I have looked at evidence that strongly points to Jesus being who He is. Josh McDowell has some good stuff that I've read. I've also heard some great speakers. www.answersingenesis.org is good also, but I learned about that only recently.

Yes, I took Biology at the university. It was foolish. My logic is a dog never had a kitten. A fish never had a frog. The universe is to enormous and orderly. The Climate of earth is too consistant. Our bodies are too complex.

your question reminded me of something i've noticed....

either christians are bible-thumpers, saying (basically) that god is the answer, science is silly, etc.

...HOWEVER, sometimes they'll become scientists, telling you SCIENTIFIC reasons why evolution is a myth (including things about bones not being found for wales, the duck-pilled platipus, etc).... then 2 minutes later they're back to being pastors and preachers again.

can't they make up their mind?

Oh Lord, you know that just because a person does not accept evolution does not mean that they are a twit {dummy} it just means that {and you can look at it like this also} that we don't take a person's word to heart who did not complete his studies, after all, he did want a PhD but was not good enough to hack the grades.
I have read on the theories of it, I just find that I do not agree with it

Logic and reason belong to man. Truth and the real answers belong to God. I'll trust Him any day over mere mortals. It feels good not to have to wrestle with trivialities.

Believing in the evolutionist theory and science doesn't stop me from believing Jesus was real. Yet, I should add, I don't think he was the son of god, just a man extraordinarely wise, followed by many because of his kindness and open mind.
