You need to apply for federal financial aid. it is NOT too late for the semester you just started. Since you are separated, you do not need to include your ex's income, even if you both filed your taxes together last year as married. Simply take all his information off the tax forms and enter your information on the fafsa application as if he was not there. If you have questions they can help you at 1800-4FED-AID. I'm attaching a publication about the types of federal fin aid and how you apply.
Good Luck.

The FAFSA form is what is needed to access the Pell Grant. However, if you have completed your sophomore year college credit wise, you could possibly not qualify for the Pell Grant. You will need to complete this now for the spring semester. For the fall 2008 semester, the form becomes available after January 1, 2008, but you need to complete it before early February. This needs to be completed yearly until you graduate from college. However, there is funding out there for those who want to attend college.

If you have children, I recommend going to the state workforce office. They could help you with food stamps, child care assistance, and medical insurance. Also, you might want to check with the county housing authority for subsidized housing help.

Finally, apply for outside scholarships. There is a scholarship for almost anything out there. All you need to do is fill out a form, and they will search for scholarships matching the form. I recommend joining more than one free membership website. Also, apply for as many scholarships that you qualify no matter the award amount because it does add up.

Good luck!

My suggestion is that you should call up your school, ask for the financial aid office, and make an appointment with a financial aid officer. Then ask them the question. They should know more about what financial aid is available in your state and at your school. Make it clear as to what you can afford, and what your situation is, and ask what they have to offer that will help out. Sometimes there are other grants available that are lesser known.

You don't need a college education to be a preschool teacher, at least not in the US. You can get an associates and that helps but get the job and then the degree, some schools will pay for the education. Montessori schools pay more for their teachers then regular preschools who allow 18 yr olds to be lead teachers.
