people, they had their sons, where did the sons find wives to help populate the world? Not being a wise guy , really want to understand this.

Thanks for answers, also bringing up Noah and only his family after the flood would also cause to think about re-population. Also when Cain killed Abel, he was given a marking and sent off, he came back with a wife if I remember correctly?

Adam and Eve were symbolic for mankind. To suggest otherwise is defying common sense. I believe in God and Jesus, but to think all people came from Adam and Eve is absurd.

It is a common question. One that is easily answered. Adam & Eve were the first parents and Cain and Abel were their first sons. so where did Cain's wife come from?

The Bible records the male births but does not record the female births! So Cain probably married his sister. Or perhaps Abel's daughter. Or Abel's daughter daughter. Or something like that.

Remember, Cain & Abel were most likely grown men when Cain killed Abel.

Adam & Eve's third son, Seth, (he was kinda Abel's replacement) was born when Adam was 130 years old.

If Adam & Eve were over 100 years old when Cain killed Abel - which would not be unreasonable -, there could have been a great many children, a great many daughters, etc.

The population of the earth at the time of the birth of Seth could have been in the thousands!

The command to be "fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" was obeyed.

Remember also, there were no restrictions then about inter-marrying and people lived long and fruitful lives!

god bless

First, let us look at when Adam and Eve were forced from the garden. One of the things God said to Eve was that He would increase her pains in childbearing. My observation is this, you cannot increase 0. Therefore, she had already been through childbirth. Otherwise there would have been nothing to increase.

Second, Cain went to another country to get his wife. Also, Cain with the mark on his forehead was afraid strangers would see it and kill him. Well, that meant there were other people, it is supposed from the earlier children of Adam and
Eve.

The brothers and sisters married in the beginning. In fact as far along as Abraham. Sari/Sarah was the half sister of Abram/Abraham.

My conclusion is that because the Bible does not state these things happened, many Bible scholars do not agree with them. I say we must use common sense once in a while. I completely agree with the Bible in what it says, but where it is silent, that does not mean it did not happen.

God gave us the talent to take facts and come to a conclusion. These are my beliefs from the studies and common sense that I have obtained through prayer and study.

If God had made more people, Eve would not be the mother of all living. Therefore, this tells us God DID NOT make more people.

It is a flat lie that the Bible says just who Cain married. Nowhere does it say he married his sister or his cousin or niece. We can only suppose who he married.

The Bible does not say that Adam was the first human. The first chapter of Genesis recounts the creation of the first humans and God said, "be fruitful (have babies)". Adam could not "be fruitful".

Adam was "formed" in the second chapter. Later, he was given a suitable help-mate, and Eve became his wife. Eve's son, Cain found a wife in the land of Nod. The Bible doesn't say where Seth got a wife, or his sisters got husbands, but we can be sure that they all married suitable mates within their race.

Noah's family were a direct decendents of Adam and were the only pure Adamites at the time of the flood. In Biblical days, it was permissable to marry first cousins, and Adamites were very careful to marry within their race, as were others races. The flood only destroyed the "world" where the mixed races lived, that's how we still have diversity today.

Adam and Eve had a lot more kids than just Abel, Cain, and Seth. Those are just the ones mentioned by name. Yes, they had to procreate with their siblings, but the gene pool was a lot cleaner back then. There hadn't been any chances yet for the mutations that make incest now a taboo practice.

Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel.
Cain killed Abel, and fled.
Adam and Eve also has son #3, Seth.
(Genesis 5)
Besides Seth, the Bible says Adam had many other sons and daughters.
(Incestuous relations were not prohibited at the time.)

The bible is not really specific on creation, if it was there wouldnt be so many questions like this asked.
Its like a giant riddle on how it all started.
One thing for sure we multiply and thats evident now.
Where it all started is even a bigger and more interesting question.
Not refering to scripture my best answer that might make more sense that would explain the different races of people is we didnt all come from this planet.

You could never understand this because some where deep down your reasoning capacity stood strong and realized that this could not be possible, hence read more for facts and read other things in science that answers this question on how man appeared on earth. It suited the imature man but not intelligent people like you. Leave these theories and move on to find truth. There are many who take things that suite them and leave the rest. What matters is how this relates to you, what is so important for you in this story, is it shaking your own belief system? And if it did how wiil this affect you.

In the past why did God allow marriage between brother and sister?

The Bible record does indicate that Cain married one of his sisters (Gen. 4:17; 5:4) and that Abram married his half sister. (Gen. 20:12) But later, in the Law given through Moses, such marriage unions were specifically forbidden. (Lev. 18:9, 11) They are not permitted among Christians today. Marriage to a close relative results in a more-than-average probability that damaging hereditary factors will be passed on to their offspring.

Why was brother-and-sister marriage not inappropriate at the beginning of mankind’s history? God created Adam and Eve perfect and purposed that all humankind descend from them. (Gen. 1:28; 3:20) Obviously some marrying of close relatives, especially within the first few generations, would occur. Even after sin made its appearance, there was relatively little danger of marked deformities in the children during early generations, because the human race was much closer to the perfection that had been enjoyed by Adam and Eve. This is attested to by the longevity of people then. (See Genesis 5:3-8; 25:7.) But about 2,500 years after Adam became a sinner, God prohibited incestuous marriage. This served to safeguard the offspring and it elevated the sexual morality of Jehovah’s servants above that of people around them who were then engaging in all manner of depraved practices.—See Leviticus 18:2-18.

You've pointed out a fundamental challenge to the Creation Myth as told by Genesis. Since the story says that there are no other people at the time, was the world populated as the result of incest between the first woman and her sons? Or were there daughters that weren't worth mentioning, and the incestuous relationship was between brothers and sisters?

I think it's obvious that there was no "first person" but that the evolution of the human race was a gradual process from our pre-human ancestors.

This may be the dumbest thing I have written, but be nice as it is just a thought. Lucifer and his followers were cast out of heaven and I am assuming cast out to earth.
The Bible talks about the land of Nod and I am assuming there were people living there. Related to Lucifer??
The Bible is the history of the Jewish people and will add and drop names because it only follows the line that leads to the Messiah. Christians believe the line of David to Jesus. Anyway back to Adam and Eve...because the Bible is Jewish history and God's chosen people, they are the FIRST Jewish people. So who are you related to??? I told you dumb eh!!
