I Used to work for Currys, sounds as if you got a dodgy sales person if they lead you to believe that Eltax were good, they are entry entry level products, normally set at a £££ price then reduced in a 'SALE' !
From the sounds of it though your system has either over heated which would be caused by placing it in a position with little or no ventilation, or something inside has blown, likely repair charge would be around £70. £40 for the call out/engineer charge the remainder for the part and labour.
If I were you I would invest in another one from the 'SALE' which started today, go for a branded product along the lines of Samsung or Yamaha depending on your budget. also get one with a Passive sub (a sub woofer with its own power supply) this will give you a deeper bass and better acoustics whilst watching films.

Twelve months for an Eltax product is actually pretty good. Naturally the salesman would tell you it's a decent product - he's trying to sell it to you!!

Eltax products are cheap to buy. Why? Because they are poorly made products, built using inferior quality components. This is why you should always steer clear of cheap electronics, such as Eltax, Alba, Bush, Goodmans, etc.

Always remember, "Buy cheap, buy twice."

Never heard of Eltax and I guess there's a reason. Seems you've learned a valuable lesson the hard way.

You get what you pay for.

Bad Luck, you probably damaged it somehow.

They are a low to mid line brand and usually have a decent product. I would see if it is serviceable, but you may need a new system.

depends on what you paid for it
