logically and analytically. Here's what i know....Atheisim is the belief of nothing correct? So by believing in nothing your actually believing in something which goes against your "cree", if you will. Therefore your belief system is completely illogical and moronic.

BTW, i'm not a Christrian nor a religious person of any sect....i'm Agnostic. I'm an analytical and logical person that has study many different religions and understand how and why ppl may believe in a afterlife and a god, but have never felt moved the "presence" myself. There's too much scientific logic to disclaim God and gods like him....but at the same time i feel that there must be something behind it since more than 85% of the world population believes in some sort of afterlife and higher power. I'm just curious how an Atheisism is an actual real belief since believing in Atheisism would go against the your belief. Please explain so i can better understand. Thanks! :)

Atheism is not believing in gods... I can believe in souls, ghosts, afterlife, mermaids, elves, love, metaphysics, whatever, and still be an atheist.

I think you're thinking of universal skepticism, not atheism.

You're reading too much into nothing. Atheism doesn't mean you believe in nothing. It means you do not believe in a God. Its that simple. And while all atheists have this disbelief in a deity, many of them still hold spiritual beliefs. Those, you'd have to ask them about. But there is a huge line between spirituality and religion.
Its great that you like to study other religions and that you think very highly of your intellect, apparently. But what I don't understand about you is that you hold something to have a possibility of truth, JUST because millions of other people believe in it. You say, "it could be true, since most of the population believes in it". Why? Is it so hard to believe that these millions of people have been duped and deluded into trusting and believing in this particular religion? Do you know why the percentage is that high? Because of all the wars that were raged centuries ago, where countries were forced to convert to Christianity or die. The only reason why this many people belief in this religion is because they were scared into it, and they are duped into believing that Christianity is the oldest religion in the world.....which by the way....it isn't.
Christianity was first created to make order, and scare people so that they were easier to control. Christianity was made, to make sheep.
Just food for thought.

No, atheism is not the belief in nothing, it is the belief in no Gods. Strong atheists, which claim for certain that there are no deities, would be slightly illogical in nature, though nowhere near to the degree of one claiming a deity as fact.

There is not, and never has been, any reason to give religion any more credibility than any other archetype that could come out of the human mind. We know that religion first evolved as polytheistic to explain things in the realm of natural phenomena that baffled early civilized, and perhaps prehistoric, man.

Most organized religions, especially those not pantheistic in nature have been discredited by their own texts in correlation with modern knowledge. No evidence, a clear trail of formation and evolution, does this make deities impossible? No, but I can't disprove just about every other idea that could come out of someone's head. Being purely agnostic to such matters would be not be open-mindedness, but gullibility.

Weak agnosticm and weak atheism can, and usually do for a person who has studied theology in depth, cross.

So, you insult atheists and then want 'logical' answers. What you did was not right. An atheist doesn't believe that the small percentage that god might exist counts for anything. They don't believe in God, heaven, hell etc. Of course they believe in things that are tangible just nothing spiritual/religious. Why does that not make sense to you. You are claiming to be Agnostic but you are making an argument for God. Do you see what I'm getting at? Practice an open mind without judgment and you won't get it in return.
Not an atheist either. Me: Buddhist

It isn't 'belief in nothing' it's the absence of belief in gods. And since the absence of gods is not a god, there's nothing inherently illogical.

Speaking of illogical, "i feel that there must be something behind it since more than 85% of the world population believes in some sort of afterlife and higher power" is a straight up argumentum ad populum.

No, you are wrong. It is not that we believe in Nothing...it is that we don't believe in a God/diety of any sort. That is technically a belief. We have no scructure of beliefs, morals, etc. other than the fact that we all agree that there is no God.

Atheists are typically moral people, alhtough many would say that they are corrupt. Being an Agnostic, I am sure you can identify with that.

It's not a belief system and it's not that we believe in nothing. We do not believe there is a god. A = no or not, THEISM = belief in god. It's as simple as that.

Atheism is not a belief system... it is not a religion. It is a word that describes a thing, that thing being a lack of belief IN GOD. I believe in many things... love, being one. I just don't believe in god or believe there is a god.

As for knowing absolutely that there is no god, I don't claim that, either. No one knows that for sure. But there is no evidence at all to prove a god exists, that I no longer waste my time looking.

EVERYBODY BELIEVES SOMETHING
i believe in the one true fact that NO ONE knows the answers to the universe or its creation--its all speculation or faithful belief--which at the end of the day amounts to squat
i do not believe there is something behind it because
more than 85% of the world population believes in some sort of afterlife and higher power--that is irrelevamt to me
we are not likely to have any answers in our lifetime--i suppose it is possible we will know something in death
but im not worried about it
i can LIVE with the truth!

Atheism - absence of belief in a god or gods. Not a belief system.

That's all you need to know. Not about believing in NOTHING... not illogical as it's a negative position to a positive claim that has no evidence, so actually it's the most logical position. We're all born atheist-agnostics.

Incorrect. I believe there is insufficient empirical evidence to support the hypothesis of a god or gods. That does not equate to a belief in nothing nor a "belief system", for that matter.

Atheism is the lack of belief in god(s). Nothing more, nothing less. There are no other defining factors. An atheist can have many other beliefs, if they so choose.

This approach is quite logical. To date there is zero evidence supporting the existence of gods. In the face of such a lack of evidence, the logical conclusion is to lack belief in gods.

The difference between you and I is that you continue to insist there is something more, despite the lack of evidence, and I do not.
