Some societies have religious people ruling through fear. There may be religions developed with this in mind, I don't know.

There are many societies with the ruling doing so through fear. Many use religion.

India is seeing militant Hinduism and Buddhism. I don't think either religion developed as a mechanism to rule over a society, but I may be wrong.

Egypt, Sudan, Iran are obvious examples of the same thing, with Islam the tool.

Ivory Coast, Congo, Liberia and Sierra Leone have Christian and Muslim thugs, attempting to rule through fear.

Secular thugs are many as well. North Korea, China, Burma, Cuba and Venezuela are good examples, and some will say Russian and Georgia are doing the same things the USSR once did.

Haiti is a good example of paganism running amok - Baby Doc was nuts, and into voodoo and witchcraft.

The right wing christian whack jobs have used fear of gays to manipulate all the morons in America into electing a fascist government.

The muslim whack jobs in Saudi Arabia have used the fear of any glimpse of female beauty, including the f***ing cheekbones, to manipulate the morons in that country and help keep a corrupt, sleezy royal family in power.

Yes, it is definitely true that religions rule societies by fear. It works very well since so many people, all over the world, are just fear driven, chattering monkeys who shudder at the very prospect of thinking for themselves.

Yes. People have always used religion to rule societies with fear. This is "religion", not faith. It comes when people realize the amount of power they can wield when they attribute things to the dominant Supreme Being. This has nothing to do with love, it is completely about control.

Sure, But see, God is not a religion
But man will use it to hold a group, by any means necessary
It has been done throughout history
The Inquisition is one {for example} Man did this {in his fight to be God here on earth} thus killing those who do not bow down to them {the men in control} and kiss the ring and shiver in fear
No where does God decree this done, but all say that this is God's doing, it was Man's doing

How about the Wahabbists who decree that any Muslim who wants to convert to another faith is a demon and must be destroyed (that means murdered)? They call themselves the "submissive" of 'Allah, but it's fairly obvious that they are less submissive to their god than Hitler was fond of the Jews!
