Has anyone ever stayed in or near Enchanted Lake area in Oahu?

I am staying there next year, and I was just trying to gather some opinions about the place.. i.e., how close is the nearest beach by walking, is the area pretty safe and quiet, how far is the drive to Honolulu, etc.? Thanks!

Enchanted Lake is a lagoon that is the habitat of several endangered species. It is a sub-division of the Kailua neighborhood, located inland from Lanikai and slightly north of Keolu Its close to the beach and if you look at this B$B site it will give you the times to various spots around the island. Also. the beach at Kailua is noted as one of the best in the world. I grew up there!
