My 2 year old has a rash on both cheeks, legs, and on one of her arms. What could it be? Not poison ivy, oak,?
etc. She also has a cold. She has had the cold for 4 days now and just got the rash this morning.

parvo virus...she got it from another child...also called "slapped cheek' disease..
Fifth disease, also known as slapped cheek syndrome, is a mild rash illness that occurs most commonly in children.

The ill child typically has a "slapped-cheek" rash on the face and a lacy red rash on the trunk and limbs. Occasionally, the rash may itch.

An ill child may have a low-grade fever, malaise, or a "cold" a few days before the rash breaks out.

The child is usually not very ill, and the rash resolves in 7 to 10 days.

What causes fifth disease?

Fifth disease is caused by infection with human parvovirus B19. This virus infects only humans. Pet dogs or cats may be immunised against "parvovirus," but these are animal parvoviruses that do not infect humans. Therefore, a child cannot "catch" parvovirus from a pet dog or cat, and a pet cat or dog cannot catch human parvovirus B19 from an ill child.

If the rash appears to have a lacey appearance and her cheeks look like a red slap mark , it is probably Fifths Disease. It is an acute but benign infectious disease that is caused by the parvo virus. It usually lasts about 10 days. Treatment is symptomatic just don't give any aspirin. You will probably find it is going around in her peer group. If you feel that she is getting worse or you have any doubts, consult the pediatrician.

i dont know what it could be,, you should ask her doctor. Is the rash in the folds of skin ? Does she have any on her back or stomach? it could be chicken pox. Have u given her anything for her cold? She may be allergic to something. Try putting Eucerin or Formula 11 on the areas and see if that helps. Other wise take her to the doctor, and maybe he can prescribe some benadryl

she could be sensitive to a wash you use on her skin, allergies you know, but there is always a possiility of it being excema...a skin condition. You should take her to a doc/dermatologist and get it checked out, it may be making her uncomfortable.....also...if you are giving her a certain type of medicine for her cold, she may have an allergy. When i was 8 i had my tonsils removed, and the meds thay had me on made my tummy break out in an itchy rash.

best to take her to the ped since we can't see the rash.
rashes could be ANYTHING!

heck, i am getting over a strep rash, myself, and had to be refered to a dermatologist b/c 3 of the doctors at the naval hospital didn't know what my rash was!!! LOL!!!

thank goodness it was just from not treating my strep throat and noting REALLY serious!

rashes are too weird...get her checked out pronto!

take care:)
EDIT:
sure, it could be a parvo rash OR it could be:
-chicken pox
-allergic reaction to any meds, foods, detergents, etc.
-hives
-sensitive skin...eczema
-a strep rash like me
-one of the millions of kinds of psoriasis out there....

my point....we don't know, mom...take her to the pediatrcian :)

Could be food allergies or adverse reaction to cold medication

Could be a reaction to over-the-counter medicine you are giving her. Make sure NOT to give her anything with aspirin in it and call your paediatrician.
