I think it's sad the number of people who don't. It just shows the intellectual laziness of people (primarily Americans, as most other countries have accepted the reality of anthropogenic global warming).
One of the most dangerous issues ever to face mankind is upon us, and people can't even be bothered to do a little bit of scientific research, or at the very least to listen to the scientific experts if they're too lazy to research the issue themselves. It's pathetic.
It also shows the extreme degree of political partisanship in the US, as we've turned a scientific issue into a political one.
At least we can agree on one thing - it's very sad.

It's sad that people waste time casting blame about global warming, which is an undeniable fact, instead of working out what they can do for their part to challenge it.
It's sad that our fantasy of humanity as a responsible species willing to work together to save the world is just so much wishful thinking. (You know, all those disaster movies of the 50s where the world pulls together to get out of some danger or other? and the Americans were always in the lead?)

Global warming/global cooling are cycles of nature. Human made pollution may affect global warming somewhat, but not nearly as much as been politicized by the media, etc. The earth takes much better care of itself than people take care of it. You know the old saying, "Don't mess with Mother Nature!"

What's sadder still is that most people think in absolutes.
The fact is that we didn't invent Global Warming, didn't cause it, and are in the bullseye of the effects of it.
Global Warming is a fact of life. It has occurred and will occur again - with us or without us. But what many people fail to get their heads around is the fact that due to industrialization, we are increasing the effects of a trend already naturally under way.
That does not mean that every square inch of the planet is going to warm up at the same rate all at once. The world is too big for that. Weather patterns and oceanographic currents will fluctuate as the Earth's natural system struggles to achieve balance in an effort to regulate conditions.
It is happening as we speak, and we WILL pay the price for it sooner or later.
The intelligent people on the planet see this, accept it and endeavor to combat it as best we can in the face of ignorance. The rest of the world will finally get the picture when we are all backed up onto mountaintops trying to stay dry.
All the answerers prior to me give me hope for Humankind.

why do you question that the inevitable. Ever heard the term every action there is a reaction. Then why is it that it will slow the process of illimination if we all go green. If we all did this together it would be the begining of something so simple yet new to a lot of people. It's too hard i know. i don't see a change until 20-50 years from now. There is not enough people in this world who think passionately about anything for that matter.

I presume you don't 'believe' man is responsible. In the UK global warming is assumed to be anthropogenic, if you said otherwise you'd get a strange look.
The current Whitehouse administration is widely 'disliked' for its stance on GW, possibly moreso than on the Iraq war. Most of the 'ROW' can't wait for the next election, although after last time I'm not placing any bets.
No, China is no excuse, unless you want to compare your democracy to the civil liberties afforded by communism. Americans have the opportunity to inform themselves, and as such have a responsibility for thier national stance. It's not difficult, go google, think the unthinkable.

Of course this is only my opinion, but my reading and watching educational television has led me to see that the earth is basically a living thing like us. It has been abused by greedy men in the last century or so. Obviously there are consequences to this poor treatment.

Very sad that skeptics invest only in the US because not enough people would believe them somewhere else and anyway... if the US citizen are turned enough to skeptics in order to have the US block international climate policies, isn´t that enough for them?

ummm.... are you kidding?
we ARE ONE of the sources of global warming. there are other causes but the human race dominates and does whatever it can to improve and make life easier weather they destroy the earth or not.
im not saying EVERY person does it, but its a obvious fact that we are a good part of it.
