Actually, condeming someone to a nonexistant penalty isn't persecution, just annoying.
Ironically, this is a bigger problem for the theists who make these statements. Since God said "judge not lest ye be judged", those who judge others as sinful and hellbound are the ones who will have problems with potential condemnation.

Atheists cannot be "condemned to hell....by fellow humans". Humans don't have that power.
GOD says that ANYONE, atheist or otherwise, who rejects Him, will go to hell.
It is just as possible for atheists to be persecuted by people as it is for Christians to be treated in the same manner. God has nothing to do with that. But He DOES have final authority.

You bet they are being persecuted! Believers claim that non-believers persecute them by not allowing them to post their religious stuff in public buildings... but isn't posting their own stuff with no regard to everyone else's beliefs persecuting them? The ONLY solution is NO posting of religious stuff, period. Then NO ONE is being persecuted.
No one has the right to tell anyone else they are wrong when it comes to religious beliefs.

People don't have the power to condemn another person to hell. However, Christians SHOULD warn atheists in a loving way without being condescending because Christians deserve to go to hell like everyone else.
The reason a Christian goes to heaven has nothing to do with being a good person. The only reason a Christian goes to heaven is because we have trusted Jesus to take our punishment upon Himself. We ALL deserve to go to hell but Jesus took our punishment upon Himself. On the cross He soaked up our sin like a sponge. We ALL have a disease called sin. Jesus is the cure. Will you accept or reject the cure? It's YOUR choice!

Athee (moonunit) - you're to be respected and enjoyed as God's introduction - no remember what "ensures" you're making on the subject of your non-perception. i could be your buddy, care approximately your lifestyles, and care approximately your soul and love Christ all on a similar time. via no longer "following peace with ALL adult males" (and ladies individuals, of direction) - i'm condemning myself to in no way seeing the Lord. So, besides the undeniable fact that i think of we can extremely co-exist - i'd desire to confess, a number of my reasoning is self-interest. i prefer to work out the Lord. yet extremely - maximum Christians are no longer almost so judgmental as you spot right here on Y/A. God Bless (no remember what your perception, or lack thereof)

No. That's not persecution. Being assaulted, having your car or home vandalized, losing your job, being sent on dangerous missions (more than others) in the military, etc. That's persecution. And it does happen sometimes.

I wouldn't call it persecution when people condemn us to Hell. I think it's wrong and a waste of everybody's time, but I don't think we're being persecuted.
As long as they're not taking away my rights, I don't consider myself to be persecuted. (I suppose you could call Creationists' attempts to remove evolution from schools persecution, but that's not really an issue about atheism.)

God condemned eveyone to hell when we get on earth. Athiests and everyone else is already in hell. We get out when we die and cease to exist. We were judged and condemned by Lucifer when we started dreaming. God sent jesus to stop that, but we still choose Lucifer, so we are condemned.
Wondering is thinking, which is also bad, unless you get put back to what you were(God creation), but that would not be God doing that and it would make Luciferians all dreamy.

That's not persecution. Persecution is where people are denied basic rights because of who they are. Persecution against homosexuals exists. Persecution against atheists doesn't so much.
