Get the roll of cookie dough-it's almost fool-proof. Buy bakery cookies or a cake. Make a banana pudding-no baking required!
That's very nice of you by-the-way. I'm sure whatever you decide will be greatly appreciated!
When my husband and I bought our first house a year or so ago, we had 3 sets of neighbors come by and bring something baked. I was overjoyed at such a nice act-NOT cheesy in the least :)

I LOVE this question! I thought I was the only one left who did things like this.
If you can't bake then go to the grocery store and buy a cake, pie or cookies. Those cookies with the frosting on them are the best cookies EVER! lol
I used to live in a small town and every holiday I'd pass out treats. At Christmas it was fudge and cookies and homemade bread. Valentines day it was heart shaped cupcakes. I did it for all the holidays but my favorite was Fourth of July. I made cupcakes and dyed the frosting either red, white or blue. I put two sparklers in them like candles. I didn't light them though lol. My neighbors loved it!
I can bake though but really even buying a small treat from the grocery store will be nice. And plus you can get to know your new neighbors!
It's nice to see someone who wants to do something kind for someone.
EDITED TO ADD: Someone said it was "corny" to bring cookies to a neighbor. Since when? It's not corny! It's a sweet gesture and it will help you get to know your neighbors.

That is so sweet my neighbors just stare and gossip, they have never talked to us or been welcoming of course we are the youngest family in the neighborhood. You should definately do something like that it's always a pain cooking when you are trying to unpack and move furniture however something homemade might make them feel uncomfortable (my papaw only eats my mamaws cooking) so maybe pick something up.

You don't have to cook anything. Most people just want to know that they have good neighbors. Talk to them before they move in. They may have questions about the neighborhood. And you might get a heads up on what kind of family they are before they move in. And visa versa.

Congratulations to you for being a good neighbor. On the day they are moving it, if it is in the budget order a couple of pizzas, and ask them to join you for a simple supper. If you think that is too much, then just put a card in their mailbox ...the effect will be the same, they will be glad to feel welcomed to the neighborhood.

They have "ready made" dough in the dairy section now. It comes in a small, rectangular sheet - you break it up and put it on a cookie sheet. Easy as pie. It's only like $2.50 a pack and they are DELICIOUS. My favorites are the chunky chocolate chip with nuts.
I think it would be fantastic to get a plate of fresh-baked cookies from new neighbors.
I think you should do it!

I am getting really curious about the sexual allure of cupcakes and feel a need to post my own questions about them soon. Lilf, I would make sure that my husband after mixing our special batters was the only one that licked my beaters and throughly. Make sure the neighbors are on vacation as you won't want any interruptions.

I think that is a very kind thing to do. Would you be my neighbor? hehe Seriously, because I have two insane and weird neighbors, one on each side and it is not pleasant. So I think doing something like that would be wonderful, and all the other answers are great ideas. I agree.

Even something store-bought (like cookies & lemonade on the day they more in) is a very nice gesture. In this day and age, it is pretty rare for new neighbors to reach out to one another. They'll be so excited to learn they've got such good neighbors!

When I moved into my new house, one of my neighbors brought over a really nice houseplant - I thought that was lovely. If you want to do baked goods, you can always just buy one, thats thoughtful as well.
