If there is any hate, mostly it's coming from Canadians toward Americans (my experience, and reading the news occasionally) and even that is not as often as one is made to believe. Personally, I believe we have more in common than we have different and any animosity begins with elitists and extremists on both sides. It then turns into "I heard blah blah blah about the Americans/Canadians. On a personal level it's a load of poop.
Although, I'm sure I'd get some interesting looks if I wore my USA hockey sweater in Canada.
It's just a novelty to most of the people staring. Not too many people in the US follow Canadian baseball.
What I find amusing is that many Americans seem to think if you wear an American flag in any form (pin, hat, patch, etc.) you are like a hyper crazy patriot right wing nut. They seem almost ashamed to show any pride in being American.
Kind of sad when you think about it.

No, I think it's more of a fascination, because Canadians seem a lot like Americans, but are actually quite different. Personally I think Canadians are cool. My husband and I were toying with the idea of moving there once.
Ignore the stares. Continue to be proud of your country, because it's a pride well-founded.

You are too sensitive and have an over active imagination.
I lived in US over 40 years, I wore my Canada stuff & flew Canadian flag & US flag at my house and never once did anyone stare or make comment about it, Americans & Canadians are alright with each other, PERIOD!!! I'm a PROUD American and LOVE my country very much but now reside in Canada.

My husband's grandfather used to wear a hat all the time. If he was in an elevator and I got on, or some other woman got on, he would take it off. He always tipped his hat to the ladies. I knew an attorney who wore a straw hat all of the time. Men used to wear hats and tip them or take them off when going inside or to a lady. I never thought anything about it until this question. Thanks for the memories.

CANADA HAS BASEBALL!?!!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding. I hate to say it, but some people are just moronic. Do you live in New York City by chance? If it's any consolation, I live on the border in Michigan, my dad is from Nova Scotia, and I love to visit Canada!

I don't think they hate you. I think that they are just curious. You know they have questions for you.
