you've answered your own question very eloquently! :)
i think that religion is a very personal thing and everyone views it or practices it differently to some level. i would have no problem whatsoever being married to an atheist,or anyone of any religion or non religion for that matter, if we loved each other. the only caveat here is i would want to raise my child in my religion (roman catholic) but would not object to the child also being exposed to the other parents' views. then allowing the child to decide for him/herself what, if anything, to believe as an adult. religion should never get in the way of love! real love is hard enough to find without letting religion impede it, ya know? like you said, as long as you don't try to disrespect each others' views or change each others minds,no bfd, right?

As a Christian, I believe you can marry someone outside of the faith.
I don't think it's the best idea however, with such different views on something that is considered so important. The conflicts that will arise where the Christian attempts to apply submitting their life to Jesus on a daily basis are numerous.
I view my spouse as my best friend. How could I keep something that is so important to me from my best friend, and still have a strong / healthy relationship?

I'm an Atheist married to a man who believes in God.
We have sometimes have deep conversations about our beliefs but since we respect each other it's done respectfully.....we never try to change each others minds.
We've been married 32 years.....oh yeah our daughter shares her Dad's beliefs.

I have been cut down for this many times and even received emails saying that I was wrong and will burn. But I am Christian and my husband is Atheist. We have been happily married for over 15yrs now. We DO NOT have arguments about religion and it has NEVER been a problem. We respect and love each other.
The "equally yoked" statement is ridiculous. As I am not "yoked" to my husband. That is for horses and oxen. People need to realize that times have changed. We also eat pork and shellfish.

God is such an important part of my life that I couldn't have a relationship with an atheist. I know it just wouldn't work for me. How would you raise children together?

No we do not belief in having a relationship with someone who doesn't share the same beliefs because the bible speaks about being equally yolked. The bible also says how can two walk together lest they agree. It would be contradictory.
