Because they are unsure how the woman feels. No one likes to get rejected.
A short while ago, someone asked what to do about all the men that ask her out when she isn't interested. Maybe, the two of you should talk.

RE:
Why are some men so indecisive when they meet a woman they really like?
Look men, please help me understand you. Now I know not all guys are like this, but I know some who are and so please advise: What if you meet a woman you're really attracted to and you get friendly with her over a period of months and then you realise that she too is attracted to you! This is...

NO man is afraid of love, only rejection. If he isn't SURE about your intentions, he will be distant. He might be looking for a serious relationship, and might think you aren't ready. Maybe he wants a fling, and you want a relationship (we can tell). Just come out and tell him what your intentions are.
Being straight forward will shock almost all men, especially coming from a woman, but it is not a bad thing at all. Just let him know what you want; he will respect that.

You've asked for a simple answer to a very complicated question. I'm very direct with women so I'm not sure I can relate to this one. I think that if you have a real interest in someone, it's much better to be direct. It saves time and money. If your interested in a guy, single him out and tell him how you feel and what you would like. He'll either like it or he won't but you won't be wondering. Good luck.

In answer to your initial question, I'd have to say many men are cowed by the "Feminazis", even to the point they are won't open a door for a woman for fear of getting knocked on their a$$ for doing so, or risk getting a tongue lashing from her!
However, if you've known this man for any period of time and he is still a bit standoffish, he might be one of the 5% or less of men who are not attracted to women. If this is the case, maybe it's time to move on!

Some of us have to be grabbed ny the hand and led in the right direction. It's not that we are not interested, sometimes we are busy with our careers or other things to notice all the signals you girls send out. You can help though, be more bold, get in our face and tell us what you are thinking. This works both ways too.

When guys act like this, it's because they "kinda" like the woman, but they're waiting to see if something better comes along.
If a guy really likes a girl, he makes it pretty clear right away. There's no waiting months. If a guy is acting this way to you, it's because he isn't very interested.

If marriage and children weren't a factor for men-fear would never be an issue.

for me the word commitment means to stay with the girl for a very long time.Biologically men have the urges to pass their gene pool far and wide. Soooo to be with only one girl means no spreading of genes. ALSO . how does one let the female down gently so as not to be an a**??
