I was afraid things like this would start happening. What do you think?

I think it is sad that her and her family were put through that. And it probably never would have happened if our government would step up and actually DO something about illegal immigration. The LEGAL immigrants would not get mixed into the middle of stuff like this.

Unfortunately, this would be happening if there were no illegals in the the U.S.We will still have gangs even without illegal Mexicans. If George Bush would have closed the borders after 9/11 we would be allot safer. We would have more money in our government and less raids for illegals. But there would still be gangs until they do something about them.

Well as long as people keep assuming that all Hispanics or Latino's are here illegally, it's going to happen. I still don't understand why they think that they are the only illegals here in the country. Hello people... there are people of other races that are here illegally too. Just because they "fit" into your environment or idea of who is legal, doesn't make them so. Still our government is trying to find out who is and who isn't here illegally. One would think they would do a better job at their research before doing this type of raid, and going after all the other illegal races here as well. But no one turns them in. Why?

At least they knocked at 6 AM, instead of some odd hours of the night. I'm sure this incident was quite frighting as it was. But I would have thought more so if it was an evening raid. To further point out when such things happen to people like her and her family, doesn't lessen the fear it brings on for them or any other citizen when they are half asleep yet, and trying to gather their faculties to figure out what's going on.

To compare somewhat. 6 masked men all dressed in black broke into a woman's home in my area. And held her a gun point, as well as beat her. They were most likely looking for drugs. And last I heard, she was healing in the hospital. When she's able to, she'll go in to help identify these guys to see if any of them she might have known. And on another note regarding this same type of situation. There were a group of 5 men, who turned out to be thugs as well, dressed in DEA uniforms, and robbed another party of all the cash they had in the house. Turned out to be in the thousands of dollars. Those guys are still on the loose. And only "raid" once in a while. But they seem to know who they plan on targeting too.

So be it government agents, or thugs like those, they use the same form to gain entrance, and push people around. No one knows who they are really dealing with until the incident and situation is known, and ones mind catches up with the goings ons of what's actually happening. And people really need to be aware both of these situations goes on, and is going on out there.

I would thank them for doing such a good job at making sure gangs are not in the neighborhood. Lines are long at the airports but Im grateful for the extra care to keep us safe. Maybe I'll sue for being held in line at the airport? PAAHLEEZE! PS.. Family living in the basement?! HUH!?

No harm, no foul. What was the total loss here? They were woken up early. No long term damage. This should have not even made the news. As for suing the Government? The Government should be forced to purchase them a nice sit down dinner somewhere for their inconvenience. That's it. No 6 or 7 figure lawsuit.

Too bad for the family's inconvenience, but it's preferable to another American citizen being harmed by an illegal.

Blame our federal government instead of the local police.

Its absolutely ridiculous. They are treating these people like ANIMALS going to the slaughter house, not human beings! I hate everything about the facts in this article, and I can't stand to think that my friend and her family might be next.

That lady needs to sue as much as she possibly can. Unfortunately, she probably won't win since its the government, but who knows.

it will get typical, do you know that if you go to jail and have an accent even though you are a US citizen will only land you in hot water, wasting time in jail for them trying to verify citizenship!!! I think everyone needs to walk around with their naturalization certificates so as not to get harrassed. Problem solved.

Well, mistakes do happen, but it is nice to see they are trying!! There should be a public apology made, & any damage fixed, but other than that, oh well!
