I like the first photo, it is moody. You may have wanted to put a little more light on the dark side of her face to give the eyes a bit more detail. Just remeber when taking upclose photos of people, if they are looking into the camera, really emphasize the eyes. It makes for a more visually appealing image.

The second one is very contrasty and cropped oddly.

For the first one I'll go with Aundrea on this. The hair is obscuring her eye and I think it would be more provocative if you could see the iris and pupil better. The second one is a bit washed out and doesn't really give the dramatic shadowing effect that I think you were going for. You might try just cranking the contrast and see if you can make changes to the existing image. If higher contrast washes out the image more, try compensating by lowering the brightness.

Wasn't crazy about any of your portraits, too moody and contrasty and too many blown highlights. The pair of skates was pretty good, though. It could use some color adjustment with the WB, but I liked it. The "ghost" timed exposures were all right.

The only comment I would make is that centering your pictures is not the best way to compose a shot. Even slight offset helps.
