Any company that promises that is a scam. They'll take you money and trash your credit.

If you want to improve your credit score you have to pay your bills on time. Pay off your credit cards. The ratio of debt to availble credit limit should be less than 30%.

Get a copy of your credit report. If there are errors, file a dispute with the credit bureau. If you have other negatives, start contacting them (newest one first and work back to the oldest) and working out a settlement. Get any settlement agreement in writing and do not give them access to your bank account.

You have to have at least a 2 year history of on time payment to improve your score.

You used to be able to instantly increase your credit score by piggybacking on your parent's credit cards, but last month, that came to a screeching halt by Fair Issac (see website below). You can no longer get that no matter what the credit fixing companies say. You can only fix it by shredding your cards and pay cash for what you need. Check out Dave Ramsey's site. He also has a radio program, and my wife and I saw him on 60 Minutes.
