No there is nothing in the bible about gambling in itself being a sin.
Gambling to excess is a sin, just like drinking and eating to excess.
All things in moderation!
Peace!

If you can afford it, why not? If you are in a committed relationship, then both partners need to be ok with it, as the funds are shared.
However, just think about buying a lottery ticket every week - that's $52 a year down the tubes. Most people get more than one ticket - $104/yr or more. Then you can purchase added features, too. Seriously, why waste the money?

"All things in moderation" is a standard Catholic response.
As long as you are not gambling away money your family needs, or acting on some sort of addiction, there is nothing wrong with gambling for fun or charity.

I have seen lives ruined because of a gambling addiction. Not, perhaps, to the extent of drug or alcohol addiction, but pretty bad. In Maine we will soon be voting on the issue. I was poised to vote against legalized gambling, but the Christian Civic League has come out against it, too, and are waging a huge $$$ campaign to defeat the legislation. Since I vote based on what they recommend (I always, always vote the opposite of what Xians want, regardless of my personal beliefs), I have to grit my teeth and vote for legalization of gambling.

i think its only wrong if its gets to be too much. As long as you gamble for kicks and not as a compulsion, then its okay. Dont let the stakes get too high!

I think it's wrong if your gambling means you can't take care of your family, but otherwise I think gambling is fun!

If elders would make me look like the fool I am then tell me yourself around what year before Christ is there evidence of the first written languages? (That would be the time the Bible was written after being orally passed down for thousands of years) Tell me How many years after Christ's supposed resurection did the first writings come of his existence? Tell me why Pontius Pilate did not record his conviction for Jesus' Execution (the man (Pilate) did exist and his records are kept and recorded suprisingly very detailed for every execution he ever ordered) Tell me why There are no writings of Jesus even though he was said to have wrote something on the ground (John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.) Tell me according to cronology in the Bible how old the Universe is? How many years ago did the flood happen? How many people has God killed or ordered to be killed? Elders of the Church would not make me feel ashamed for having little knowledge of the Bible, because I do indeed have very much knowledge of it inside and out as well as much of the unknown (not talked about anyway) history of it. In fact they would be very uncomfortable about how much I know and maybe go so far as to call me anti-christ, but in fact, I have a higher standard of morals than most of them. I hope you tale the time to read this as it was the only way I knew to respond to your answer.
Does God allow Gambling?
Yes and No it is a contradiction...
No He Does Not...
Proverbs 28:22
He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
John 19:23-24
Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments ... and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
(Since the Roman soldiers were bad guys and they gambled for the robe of Jesus, gambling must be bad.)
Yes He (God) Does Allow Gambling
Numbers 26:52-56
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying ... the land shall be divided by lot.
Explanation for laymen: Lot is kind of like heads or tails of a coin.
Joshua 14:2
By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
Joshua 18:6
Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.
Joshua 19:51
These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD.
Joshua 21:8
And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
1 Chronicles 26:13-14
And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate. And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counsellor, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.
Nehemiah 10:34
And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God.
Acts 1:23-26
And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen.... And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Gamble isn't a deity, not even a imaginary one - no capital G required.
To answer your question, it's not wrong if you view it as entertainment and stay within your predetermined limit. It's when you go back for more that it becomes a problem for some.

If you lose, does that make you feel good?
If you win, someone else has to lose (unless it's the lottery), and does it make you feel good to make someone else lose and feel bad?
So, what good really comes from gambling?

I don't think so, but like all petty sins it sometimes leads to greater sins.
