How can we expect other people to follow our religion when we don't do the same ourselves? We hear about it every Sunday in church. The call to bring people into a relationship with God, yet we sin about as bad as they do, and call ourselves children of God. Everyone sins, everyone does wrong, I get that, but I think it's time we take a stand and show people the love and compassion Jesus is all about. Maybe if people could see God in us, they'd change..
Just my thoughts. Is anyone with me here?

Yes - I agree, although I believe most christians don't sin as much as non-believers..
christians that fill their everyday thoughts with God are so much more likely to want to express their love for Him to others. God does want us to take a stand for him.. but whether it's peer pressure or embarrassment, most of us back down for fear of not being accepted (no.1 human fear)

If more people grew up being confident in themselves, casting any fears or worries of what others think to God (which is what He commanded.) Christians would be openly proud to say their God's children.
This day n' age people are surrounded with pressures.. being thin..intelligent..pretty.. (ie. adverts, magazines..etc) it's harder to be your own person.

I'm totally with you here. It's all about matters of the heart. Preaching is old-school, in my opinion. We need to show people what Christianity is simply by loving others. That's the primary thing that Jesus taught. Everything else will follow if we do this with an open heart. Lead a good example, don't act as though you're better than others. Christians, as well as anyone else, have no right to look down upon others who do not share their views or understand.

Love EVERYONE, and keep an open mind. Share your testimony if they ask, but "Jesus freaks" just turn people away. We need to back off and show love to others. Then when they notice that something is different, if they ask, we can tell them. Shoving religion down peoples' throats is the wrong way to share. Actions DO speak louder than words!

Here's a good test for y'all...

You run a business and have several openings for employees. Guy walks in and you see from his resume that he is qualified for the job and in all ways seems like he would be a good hire.

But 25 years ago he did something stupid and did time for it. He's on parole, fifteen years of release without a problem.

Assuming the crime he committed is not a confict with the job (such as an embezzler working at a bank), would you hire him?

If so, good on your - that's what Jesus would do. "Let he among you without sin cast the first stone."
If no, you're a hypocrite who isn't worthy to clean Jesus' toilet leavings.

That's the biggest problem I see with christians and what drives me away from them - the hypocrisy, the judgemental attitudes, the "my way or the highway" mindset.

Many of us have fallen away despite our eternal salvation. It's time for a change. I mean...Christians are now considering homosexuality right and that abortion isn't religion related.

Even myself have fallen short of small sins that I end up regretting later on. But the thing is, we shouldn't go around judging people either.

The Bible commands us to reprimand a fellow sister or brother privately and if they refuse after a few times, take it to a higher level through the church.

I don't go around shoving religion down people's throats either. Jesus never did even though people knew who He was. Instead, Jesus spent time with the sinners because that's the main reason He came. He didn't come for the righteous; He came for the lost sheep.

Thank you that reminder actually...everyday is a struggle regardless where I'm at. Whether it's lust, little white lies, or pride, I fall. And I fall very hard.

Being Christian is not about achieving perfection. The whole point is that we need Christ's blood because we cannot be right with God on our own. Having said that, I do agree that we ought to do the very best we can to show the love of Christ, but remember we cannot judge one another either. Only God knows the heart. Please lead by example, I do!

I'm not a "church goin" kind of gal. I believe yes but I don't necessarily believe in the people who are apart of the church.

For example the priests and minister who have sexually molested young children. People who are representing and who you think "believe" in God and are using His name and His place of worship to do Evil. Nah, don't think I want to be apart of something like that. I can pray and worship God any place and any time I desire.....I don't have to prove my faith to anyone God is all that matters when it comes to that.

I'm very much with you. It's hard for people to change, let alone, for people to admit they are wrong. It is easy to be tricked into doing wrong in this culture of ours. But the call to persevere is even greater. We need to lead by example. If others who have been tricked see those living right, they will begin to see their flaws.

Salvation is work of God that He does through His imperfect people. We Christians are in the process of being perfected that is called sanctification. But we are Justified because of our faith in Christ. The world - the unbelievers are not justified.

Knowing the depth of God's love like Paul prayed for believers in Ephesians 3 : 14 is key for Christians to love! We need to know in our experience the depth of God's love!

14For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15from whom his whole family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
